Ergo proxy was a nice anime, although it did get strange at some points!

Got that torrent, it's the DVD apparently with English/Japanese audio/subs? Should I download a different torrent, it hasn't gotten far yet.
Hmm. I'm not really sure. I thought that the descriptions at the end were added by the Shinsen Subs team, but they may have been part of the Anime itself. I'll see if I can find out.

Episode 16 of Ergo Proxy was my absolute favourite. When Re-l, Vincent and Pino are stuck in the middle of no where because there's no wind to move their boat. The amount of characterization they showed that episode was fantastic, considering the mundanity of the situation they still made it enjoyable. The freakhouse and gameshow episodes were fucking weird as well.

Alas, it is indeed Shinsen that added the cultural notes at the end of the eps and it is confirmed that they are not on the Geneon DVD version of the show. If you're vastly opposed to scrapping your current download and getting the Shinsen version, I suppose I could screen-shot them and post them here for you (in spoiler tags labeled by Episode number). I found a Stream of the DVD version and played it side by side to the Shinsen version. Some things were worded differently, but they said pretty much the exact same thing. As such, you aren't losing any story if you decide to forgo the DVD version in favor of Shinsen's.

    Found this torrent on thepiratebay.org:

So the first Gurren Lagann movie aired on TV Tokyo a few nights ago... in HD. Unfortunately they cut about 10 minutes from it :/

    Blu-ray where!?

I'm surprised the 10 minutes didn't get censorship slapped treatment.

http://f.imagehost.org/0814/soranowotoup7.pngCongratulations to studio A-1 Pictures you've made a superior version of K-ON with a fantastic soundtrack, gorgeous animation, likable characters and a flushed world. What really grabs me, strong sense of story, the passion of these young girls and the struggle they have to live through.
I've had my doubts but this an very good anime despite being Moe type and some random fanservice.
Yes it's on my Winter List.

I wanted to like Ergo Proxy, but out of the hundred or so series I've seen, it has to be in the bottom 5....

Cool name, good music, cool lead character....but just bad and boring, and I usually appreciate/love any and all anime

I liked Ergo Proxy overall (as in I didnt feel cheated when I finished it). I usually dont watch SciFi anime, but it was a nice change of pace. Got a little too psychological for me where I wanted action to be. meh.

It started off too good, and the middle of the anime was so....boring.

I know this was posted in this thread, but I can't seem to find it through search. Can someone post some links of some good anime streamed sites? Need one for laptop, ty.

Eh, I liked it enough as a whole. IMO, it started strong, but succumbed to what felt like a rushed/convoluted ending, as is all too common in anime. I'd put it in the pile with Wolf's Rain, or more recently, Shangri-La, where I found the parts to be better than the whole.

If you're looking for legal, Hulu has some dubs, and Crunchyroll has some subs.

I'd agree; had some serious pacing problems. Most of the individual episodes were fine (some pretentious crap ehh they try to lampshade it) but the whole arc left me feeling short-changed. At least wanted to post the Stretch Armstrong Will B. Good WTF moment.

Any recs, with good music, cool characters, and not bad or boring? (May have been mentioned before, but I haven't seen much anime so odds are good it would be something I missed.)

    Cheers.

Well, I have only read 2-3 pages of this entire thread, so I'm sure most of my favs have been rec'd, but:

    Evangelion
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (Probably my all-time favorite series)
    Basilisk
    Bleach/Naruto(Hello)
Rahxephon (Do not watch the OVA)
    Code Geass
    Gundam 00
FMA (New version is much better than original)
    Death Note
    Honey and Clover
    Girl Who Leapt Through Time
    Elfen Lied
    12 Samurai
    Onegai Teacher/Twins
    S-Cry-Ed
    X
    Gunslinger Girl
    Noir
Suzuka (spelling may be wrong, but very good series)
Love Hina (one of the first series I ever watched, along with Chobits)
Claymore (only time I will say a manga > anime though)
    Gantz
    Fate/Stay Night
    Kite

All I can think of off the top of my head; I will edit with more when I think of them.

I thought it was just me. I wondered if K-Ons style was catching on...and it fucking is. Third anime I've seen with this style. Or is it second? I don't care, it's one too many. Not that it's bad or anything... just, I foresee the day where most titles will look like this because it's popular.

And it can't be said enough, Chobits is awful and you should feel bad for liking it.
