For those who've already gone through both, how does the second version (or is R2 just a reboot?) compare to the first 25 episodes? I understand this might be a broken base situation. Thanks.

Season 2 was a bit more over-the-top than the first. It had a lot less "Smart Lelouch" moments and lot more focus on other characters and the mechas. That being said though, it had probably the best ending of any Anime I've seen to date.

Indeed. Hmm, wait til the heavyhitters have had their say, or dive right in... Right, okay, here's the deal. You'll either want R2 to have your babies or want to eat R2's babies, if the rest of the internet is anything to go by... More likely, though, you'll find stuff you hate and stuff you enjoy a lot. It's a pretty well-done series, just interspersed with an increasing number of "wtf" moments as the series progresses. The ending is awesome though. If you enjoyed the first series, though, you should probably finish R2 even if you have to gag on your own venomous hatred to do so.

R2, turn your brain off, enjoy. It isn't bad, just not as good as season 1. Some parts are awesome, some are really lame, others are just confusing. The ending is still the highlight of the season and is nicely done.

Pizza hut is still around, not a bad kind of advertisment, it's not like it detracts from the story with CC going, "I LOVE PIZZA FROM PIZZA HUT!" Though, that would have been funny the first time I guess.

I thoroughly enjoyed Durarara, it was very slow paced but I didn't find myself bored, rather I was caught up. I also like the way the story is told.

I thought it looked like a girl during the preview, so dunno. I could maybe see people in the show thinking it a guy in poor lighting and such, but the viewer really shouldn't have any doubt even before the above boob shot.

I'll confess know awareness of the show beyond the first episode, but just watching the credits and trying to apply some reason to the headless girl existing, I'll go out on a limb and say the people in lab coats at the end are somehow involved. Yeah, captain obvious clue, there, but it's not like OP/EDs have never spoiled.

I'm going to Pull my eye's, this is too cute for my taste.now that I too that out of my system, i'll give GAINAX a huge credit the whole student+teacher love story felt innocent and cute, unlike Kodomo no Jikan were it was nothing more than perverted and sick.

I just started it, and first season already had me cry some twice D:

Mostly Kotomi's past when her parents died, I don't why but I felt so sorry for seeing her cry promising to be a good girl after she had said she hated them was too much for me.
And then when Tomoyo past it took her brothers had jumping into a river to wake her up, though was much lighter than the other.

When she actually believed Ryou was Tomoya turned female I just died laughing at that scene, and all of her random appearances were great, and of course when Tomoya said "I feel like I want to have the opposite of a romantic relationship with this person" after the charm for next girl to talk to be the one who cared about xD.

Dunno if it was spoken about at all yet (probably was) but Hellsing OVA 7 was amazing. All of them have been great thus far, but I forgot since reading the manga a couple years ago how crazy and violent this part was. None of these have disappointed me yet. I really cannot fucking wait until the next one. I hope it's sooner rather than later, cause we get to see Alucard unleash hell. I cannot wait to see that animated!

I kinda felt bad about it all because it seemed that Nagisa won because everyone took pity on her >.> She didn't really have the most chemistry with Tomoya but she had the more consistent bad stuff happen to her.

I liked Fuko as long as everyone keeps away from her having any romantic involvement with anyone. As long as that's kept out of it I loved her in the cast. She was hilarious at all times and her role is quite endearing.

I personally loved Kyou though, I was so happy she was an OVA but was a bit disappointed in that it wasn't any After Story OVA and it was pretty much Ryou and Kyou drama, I wanted to see more Tomoya/Kyou interaction, not Kyou in her few moments of being the "weak"/crying/dramatic girl. But I did still enjoy the OVA, it just could've been better. I love the final scene in the OVA too. I enjoyed seeing her in After Story too.

But yeah get to After Story, if you enjoyed the first series After Story is 10x better aside from not having as much lighthearted comedy. It's one of the few animes that I think has had a real effect on how I view things/people/etc.
