That should explain the numbering. Originally, the episodes aired out of chronological order based on the novels. I watched it according to the airing schedule the first time, then rewatched it in chronological order and honestly preferred it according to the first airing schedule.

    Chronological (season 1 only)
    2, 3, 5, 10, 13, 14, 4, 7, 6, 8, 1, 12, 11, 9

Things get even funnier with season 2. I suggest looking up the 2009 airing schedule and follow that if you want to do things chronologically.

I liked the original order too, but yea if you want to the chronologically order I'd go ahead and watch with the 2009 version.

Also I watched the K-ON OVA the animation quality for it seemed really high, and was pretty enjoyable episode. Makes me want season 2 for it sooner though D:.

Season 2 of Haruhi is only funnier if you skip most of the season. The non-endless 8 were great, but fuck man.

    K-ON OVA

Thanks you for remaindering me why I hate this shitty show Kyoani , It’s like getting a big puff of pink cotton candy and cramming it all down your throat in one go.

    Let see
-Girls who becomes a weeping mess at the drop of a hat
    -Lovable little retards girls
-No substance or growth to the characters or Plot after 14 episodes.
-Seen one episode you've seen it all

I seriously felt like I'm watching episode one all over again, which gave me nothing but feeling of emptiness and lack of humanity, true Sora no Wo to and Kowarekake No Orgol are moe but atleast they were smart on how to approach it.

This base on my opinion, if you love the show by all means watch the OVA and season 2 in Fall since I have nothing against anyone's taste.

    Edit
    Kowarekake No Orgol
it has a simple, condensed plot, yet throughout the course of the OVA it feels as if so much more is told. The sheer number of things Flower and Keiichirou do in a short half-hour makes Orgol seem to possess an entire series worth of happenings – yet none of it feels rushed at all

Orgol has a very comfortable pacing; the length of the scenes that depict the plot devices are just the right length, and though short, none of them feel pointless. They all contribute to some factor of Flower’s growth and relationship with Keiichirou.

With the inclusion of the final scenes that showed the fates of both Flower and Keiichirou, Kowarekake no Orgol shows us that not only is less sometimes more, less can be very beautifully executed as well.
Excellent summary from Ningyo Blog when moe is done right.

Is the movie just in theaters? Or is it straight to DVD? Basically how long until it'll have a decent quality release for a fansub?

All the anime adapted from 4-panel comics are going to lack substance/growth, but you need to understand that. If you can do that, you can enjoy it for what it is. It's essentially a gag anime, and while I normally don't enjoy that, I do enjoy the combination of moe and comedy in a good wholesome setting.

Camrips of theater movies are considered a Very Bad Thing to do by the Japanese Otaku population (at least on 2ch). Basically there probably wont be anything until the DVD comes out. Anime movie DVDs are anywhere from 6 months to 9 months after they premiere in theaters.

    Yes, it fucking sucks.

Yeah, I don't really watch camrips of anything anymore, no real desire for that of my anime. I thought it was a theater release, was just hoping I was incorrect in that assumption so I'd get to see the movie earlier. I mean, anything that has Mr. Anime hater excited has to be pretty good.

I didn't mean like comedy funny, but as in the timeline gets worse, as Bamboo leaf rhapsody takes place between Boredom of Haruhi and Mysterique Sign. And yeah, Endless Eight was the bane of many.

I think most fans are still fans. I know I am, and even though Endless Eight was a bad idea, it still sold well.

Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is pretty much Kyoani trying to please their fanbase, the movie is 150 minutes long by the way lol.

So basically Disappearance would've been 6 episodes if they had Endless 8 as the two episodes it should have been? Good to know!

But yeah, I'm still a fan, no reason to hate the series because the production company did something stupid. And I don't believe the production company gets anything out of me watching fansubbed episodes anyway...

KyoAni had no say in Endless 8, they just animate what they get paid to.

Really? I must've missed where this came out. Who made them do Endless 8 like that then?

Kadokawa[people paying them to animate it] was the cause behind it, from what I understand on the matter.

It's true Kadokawa commissioned the 8 episodes but this hurt the KyoAni name.

    -announcing season 2.
-denying it, that's only season 1 reruns.
    -apology letter to the fans.
-Sneaking season 2 episodes with reruns(seriously who does that).
    -Fans rejoices.
-Endless Eight(all rumors says it's to cut animation cost).
-Anger from fans (death threats were send to KyoAni)
-No response from Kadokawa or KyoAni until Endless Eight ended.
-pointing fingers and that KyoAni staff was against it all along.
-Nonsensical numbering in DVD to confuse the consumer.
    Spoiler: show

Yutaka Yamamoto a.k.a. "Yamakan," director of Haruhi's first season, offered his thoughts about the second season while attending Otakon 2009. Through his interpreter he stated that the "Endless Eight" concept came up while he was still onboard with KyoAni (he later left to direct Kannagi and form his own studio). He noted that he was against the idea, and that "two episodes was the most [they] can do." Clearly that advice did not stick, as the episode has been repeated five times to date. Yamakan admitted that while he left Kyoto Animation of his own volition, he felt "some responsibility" for the show's current state, and offered an apology "as a representative of the SOS Brigade Production Committee."

Considering that Japanese DVD pricing is ridiculously high (2-episode volumes for roughly $50-70 each), devoted Haruhi-ists may need to take out a loan come shipping day. Well, that or to wait until someone posts the content online. Hopefully whomever licenses the English-language release will not succumb to this lunacy. The anime market in its current state will not tolerate these kinds of shenanigans. Unless those DVDs contain some wealth of additional content (like, perhaps 8 more episodes to replace the ones they've wasted), I cannot in good conscience recommend these to anyone.

Hit the jump to try to make sense of this new numbering scheme.
Each DVD is priced at 6,930 yen (about $72). There is a last one with the odd number "5.999999", which is only priced at 4,830 yen ($50). I'm hoping that's the one containing those 8 extra episodes I demanded.

Posted on the series' official blog, the interview is between the blog's host "Kuroneko-man" and unnamed members of the production staff. It was implied that the process of making the infamous story arc was that multiple teams were given the same subject material (i.e. scripts etc.) to work with, and were made to construct an episode. The result was a series of episodes, each essentially the same but with differences in pacing, tone, visuals, dialog, etc. The staffer s felt that it was quite interesting to see other teams employ the same material and the diversity of the resulting work, and that the project "broadened their outlook" on the show as a whole.

Tongue firmly planted in cheek, the interview also seemed to acknowledge the largely negative fan reaction, with both Kuroneko-man and the staffers themselves admitting to empathizing with character Yuki Nagato who during the arc could remember every iteration of the Groundhog Day-like time loop, ending up with 594 years worth of boredom.

This what I recall from this mess at that time

Edit before I forget Kyoto went against Yutaka Yamamoto comments and he then restate "as a former representative of the SOS Brigade Production Committee."
