Anime Thread. [Prob not 56k safe]

I picked Valkyria chronicle anime again after putting it on hold when it was airing (around episode 11). I still can't say it's great, especially since the game look better, but I'm enjoying it a lot more than I did before (only 6 episodes left now). I'm glad I didnt drop it.

Same here, I mean, she was a tiny bit tsundere in the game, but only when she didn't know anyone at all. It must have lasted for about 3 cut scenes. This time, she's full-blown tsun, for no damn reason other than prolonging a meaningful relationship (which would happen if you fight together all the damn time).

I often hate tsundere, mostly because a good portion of the characters who are tsundere are absolutely terrible, but the ones who do it well are always likeable. Alicia never questioned Welkin in the game, there was always a trust that she had for him that he had to win from everyone else at the start, but in the anime he had to win her trust as well. I dunno, the game is basically like watching anime anyway, it seems like this version is pretty redundant for the people who've played the game.

Not the best Tan series but still a fun one, I still think Itadaki no Hecatetan is best Tan one to date, as nothing can beat Yuuji discovering The wonderful world of Boys-Love and Yuuji pleasure moments through out this one.

A sweet episode, and I love the Wilhelmina flash back at the end, I hope we won't wait long for next episode and If anyone understands JP The Audio documentary is fun one to listen to.

Has anybody seen Fairy tale? I have started to watch it now, currently on episode 4. It seems good so far.

Tsundere is a character archetype, usually referring to female characters that project an abusive/bitchy exterior most of the time, but has a soft side shown to the male lead or whatnot.

Haven't watched a lot of the Fairy Tale anime, but read some of the manga, which is much farther along.

She was at first, but it kinda stop after episode 11-12. I agree it doesnt work well with their character, and they should have done without this.

While tsundere Alicia is really annoying, the Valkyria Chronicles anime is one of the better game to anime adaptations out there. It's definitely not Gungrave good, but I'd place it a cut above just about any other adaptation. It kept me entertained, and it never felt like it was pandering to fans of the game for no goddamn reason like most other shows if this type suffer from.

OMG Bakemonogatari 14 is fucking amazing.

Episode was full of fan service but I didn't mind it and enjoyed most of it. Sengoku in the lingerie on the bed, Neko Hanekawa, Hachikuji, etc. I can't wait for episode 15, should be a cool showdown between the two female love interests.

I really need a soundtrack for this too, the music is superb. Bakemonogatari and Durarara are high up on my list of wanted OSTs.

Valkyria Chronicles adaption sucked :> They turned Welkin into an idiot and left out the best part of the ending from the game.

Tales of the Abyss anime was probably the closest game to anime adaption I've watched.

God, that was such a bullshit thing they pulled.

Anyway, from what I understand, they based the anime off the manga adaptation of VC, so it's really watered down with shit and fail to get to that point.

2 things I can't stand from the anime was the tsundere alicia, and the constant reminder that Isara was a fucking jew.

Yeah, that also annoyed me. I mean, after that one mission, all the jew haters just stopped and we never really heard of it again. Then after the incident I completely forgot about it (actually both incidents may have been 1 mission).

Rosie is pretty much the only one who brought up that topic, and she had decent reason for it (in the anime at least). I'm not saying it's on par with the game (sadly) or the best anime out there, but shit, if you watch more than 2 animes per years, it can't be that bad.

I don't hate it that much, but I often think when it comes to adaptations, you either stick close to the source material, or you completely make shit up in the same universe/settings. Though as I said before, if you've played the game there is little reason to watch the anime, well, maybe just to see what Alicia is like when she's fused with Kana.

I agree there is little reason to watch it if you played the game before, but if you haven't, it's still a good anime. I can't comment how close it is from the source (I need a ps3 still >_>), but the story at least stand on its own. The characters and plot make sense, which is better than many animes series.

I'm curious about one thing though, is there any "death" in the game, or they changed that in the anime? That was pretty damn sad and unexpected, especially since it was one of my favorite character.

About Alicia being a tsundere, you could say that for a few episodes early (usually when she was teased by a 3rd party), but after episode 10, she is relatively straightforward with her feeling. Unless you're pushing the definition, I don't think it describes her very well.

And she doesnt sound anymore like Kana anymore. Well, she probably does, but not as much as when I watched both series at the same time.
