channel is hosting five English-dubbed video clips from the Dragon Ball Z Kai anime series. Dragon Ball Z Kai will premiere on Nicktoons next month. Nicktoons is a spinoff of Nickelodeon, which announced Nicktoons' acquisitions of Dragon Ball Z Kai and Voltron Force in a press release last month.

The Dragon Ball Kai television series condenses the 1989-1996 Dragon Ball Z anime series to more closely follow Akira Toriyama's original Dragon Ball manga. In addition to a digital high-definition remastering and a re-recorded soundtrack, Dragon Ball Kai also updates selected scenes with new effects or re-animated footage. The series premiered under the name Dragon Ball Kai in Japan last April, and it has consistently ranked among the top 10 anime in viewer ratings every week since. Nicktoons' video clips have some differences from the version that is airing on Japanese television.

Funimation had licensed the series for North America, and it plans to ship the first part of the series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on May 18. The distributor already licensed both the Dragon Ball Z television series and the earlier Dragon Ball television series for North America. Funimation reassembled most of its original Dragon Ball Z cast for the English dubbing of Dragon Ball Z Kai, except for four new cast members. Viz Media publishes the original manga in North America.

Meh, I never really paid much attention to the Tsuikihime side of the lore.

Is this Tsukihime VN in the same universe as F/SN? I had heard of this other story when something I was looking up for F/SN took me to the Mirrormoon forums (ok, I won't lie. I was looking for an uncensored version, and I eventually found it ^^), but I thought it was a completely separate series. Of course, even if it IS a separate universe, if it at/near the same level as F/SN? If so, I might look it up.

It's not right. DBZ belongs on Cartoon Network. Oh, my bad. I mean Live Action Network.

It's not going to be the same without Tom and his spaceship narrating the beginning before every episode starts.

Seeing katanagatari in the same post as Bakemonogatari has me interested so I'm downloading it. Looks like Mazui is the sub group so I'm downloading 1-3 from them.

Just watched the first episode of Bakemonogatari... what a strange anime. I can't decide if I should take it seriously or not. Some of the stuff that happened was a bit over-the-top exaggerated, but then the dialog was fast and technical.

Perhaps the subs of the episode I watched were just horribly done, but this shit seems a bit hard to follow. For instance, there would be an entire paragraph of text flashed on the screen, but then taken away before I got anything close to a chance to actually read it. Is that text skippable then? Also, the dialog was so fast and dense that I had trouble reading the subs fast enough, let alone actually take time to look at what was shown. If I were new to subtitled anime, then I could understand, but seeing as how I'm well on my way to becoming a bonafide Otaku, I don't think the problem was me...

So yeah, was the episode I watched just badly subbed or am I gonna have to ride the pause button for this series?

I've skipped over the pages of text that flash onto the screen. I believe it's just a summary of the events that have/are going to happen. Bakamonogatari is fast, and that's one thing I enjoyed about it. It's probably one of the most wordy anime I've seen. Maybe yours was badly subbed, but I was able to keep up with reading the copy I watched by [gg].

Those paragraphs are really just excerpt from the light novel it was based on. you can pause and read it, but it's not entirely necessary for you to really understand what's going on. But yeah, dialogue, especially Araragi's inner thoughts and Oshino's explanation is one of those things you'd need to go over if you don't grasp the concept in the series.

Nishio Isshin is such a hit/miss writer though, and I personally believe that Bakemonogatari's success mostly attributed into SHAFT's storytelling, because frankly, his other work I've come across (Desu note novel, Medaka Box, Katanagatari) comes off to me as complete and utter shit.

Could just be me being overly critical about shit that doesn't matter though, but yeah, don't fucking expect Katanagatari being close to Bakemonogatari despite being written by the same author.

I could draw the same parallel with Higurashi and Umineko, but I really don't feel like writing a wall of text of opinion regarding the series.

I didn't care for [gg]'s subs. I ended up going with Koharubi. Only problem is they're a bit slow, so they're only on episode 12 (14 is the latest episode).

It didn't seem like CoalGuys released a troll sub for ep2 of K-ON! I'm enjoying the series more than last season, probably just because I'm used to the characters and read the manga so I have a better idea of how the humor works. Also, the OP and ED are growing on me, I like them both quite a bit. Not necessarily the song for the OP, but I think it meshes well with the animation, better than last years did to make it just as good overall.
