This is the 1st dub Ive seen of an OP ive seen. I know other anime showing on tv atm just use the original unaltered OP.

I think they can appreciate that if people like the original openings more, it's cheaper to just leave those in and sub it rather than compose your own music etc. I'm glad as well, cause the majority of redone OPs fucking suck.

Most people that watched the dubbed version of those watched them on toonami thou, where the opening was cut out anyway. The only english dubbed OP I can recall seeing myself is the DBZ one.

I definitely did prefer the music (and the voice acting) from the english dub of DBZ that only went up the first 53 or whatever episodes to the original. I didn't really care for the second one thou.

When Funi took over One Piece, they used original Openings but dubbed the singing. I think Vic did "We Are!" or something. Wasn't too bad.

But yeah, I'm glad they've gone away from different Openings/Endings and use the ones from the japanese broadcast.

I liked how they mainly showed random fights from the movies and had me wondering back then "where the fuck is this?" in the anime.

I wouldn't give two shits about it if not for it being done by apparently the whole GL team. GL was a parody of shounen/mecha taken to levels of awesome, so this could be a similar case.

Arakawa Under The Bridge looks like Formula isn't releasing anymore so I just downloaded Nutbladder's sub, it was hilarious as usual.

Durarara was awesome, the three of them are all secretly enemies leading the three main forces in Ikeburo, I hope they discover eachother's identities soon.. Anri's backstory was really depressing..

while Yoshinari is a hero (seriously, his parallel work was fucking awesome, and he did key animation for pretty much every awesome episode in the series), I'd say its likely the chara designs are because of the director. He also did Dead Leaves, which is somewhat similar artstyle.

You don't want his plan to succeed because it'd most likely fuck over most if not all of the main characters, but you can't help but wanting to root for the motherfucker because he's just an amazing troll.

But yeah, sangokushi buildup, can't wait for next episode as usual.

As it stands now though, I think at least Celty knows enough of the situation to try and prevent it (knowing the leader of both Saika and Dollars)

That whole part where Celty stated that she wouldn't be able to beat Anri in a fight made the whole situation vs Haruna kinda lame the way it ended with barely any action. Hope that she get her action scenes before the series end though, there are few things in anime that I place higher than a girl with katana kicking ass

I don't care if we see her fight or not, as long durarara continues to deliver that kind of storytelling, it's the last of my worries.


I loved this episode, can't wait to see where they are going with this.

But yeah, the entire series is a Xanatos Gambit done right so far, and hopefully it stays that way til the end

Nevermind the whole "which language you hear it in first taints your perception of quality because the other language doesn't match it" aspect which, since we're dealing with japanese media, usually means that's what people hear first if you actively seek the stuff. I'll never really understand the obnoxiously high-pitched female voices or so gravelly deep male ones, but apparently that's part of the superior voice-acting.

But yeah, there are good dubbed VAs. There are bad directorial decisions in the dub world. Sometimes I'd rather watch a show than read it, and as I implied the last time the subject came up, the more people the media can reach the better. Sorry weeaboos.
