I'd love to see how an american company would censor HSotD.

I'd love it more if some network grew a pair and didn't. Hell, I think the most risque animation I've seen on non-premium television involved Geass on Adult Swim, and even then that got censored. This was after midnight on a night a lot of people are out or in bed, too.

I just hate how it seems like America's animation industry is sorely underutilized or pigeon-holed into Disney/Pixar work.

If it ever makes it to our shores there is no doubt that it will be extremely censored to the highest degree. It is way too close to 'child pornography' not to.

I'd really have to assume it will sell well but I don't know how well received HSOTD was in Japan in general. Which kinda brings me to another point. Do the anime production companies really not think it would be worth it to release dvd/bluray releases of these shows in the west? I mean I don't give a shit about english dubs, I'd be perfectly happy with just subtitles, but I never see this happen. Is this some kind of a licensing issue? I'm really not in the know. I enjoy watching this stuff and I probably watch it a lot more than I do regular TV over here so I wouldn't mind paying to support them, but most shows never make it over to the US. If they are already doing this, someone feel free to point me in the right direction.

The problem is that most publishing companies feel that there isn't enough of a market for a Sub only release (sort of justified since many fans just watch the free fan subbed versions) so they take the time to do a Dub. This just makes a whole new set of problems since it can take a year or more for a dubbed version to see a retail release, and by then a lot of the interest in a series may have died off. Of course the bad voice acting in many dubs causes even more problems. I'd like to see some sort of compromise which would have them doing a quick sub only release for the people that don't care about the dub and then do a dub release further down the line. Another reason for the long delay is that it's often cheaper for a Japanese Anime fan to import a US copy of a show than pay for the Japanese version so some production studios included a time delay into the licensing agreement so that their own sales aren't cannibalized by the US one. Basically the whole situation is fucked and will most likely never get resolved in a way that will make every happy.

H.O.T.D is already licensed by Sentai Filmworks for 2011 release (DVD only).

Maybe if the Japanese companies didn't charge $60+ for a 2 episode dvd or blu-ray they might be able to sell more and wouldn't have to worry about reverse importing. They know there's a decent market in the West for this stuff but they seem intent on driving it all underground, and then getting pissed that it's all fan subs and downloading and trying to shut all that down. I swear that they have a bunch of retards running those companies. The American companies aren't any better because they aren't trying to force more favorable terms in the licensing agreements and just take the ridiculous demands the ass.

My friend has trained his eyes to see past the mozaic, or so he told me. I personally find mozaic more of a turn off than guro, and just get my hentai fix through relatively lightly censored CGsets and doujinshi.

Though I suppose you can hope against hope that a few years down the road, someone will license it on the state and release the uncensored version.

But seriously, due to the relatively low production cost, and the fact that nobody wanna waste time putting effort on part that'd most likely be covered in mozaic, even the uncensored H-anime tend to have really badly drawn genitalia.
