The Third - Aoi Hitomi no Shōjo's main character Honoka was a strong female character without overdoing it. Probably one of my favorite anime that I think was fairly underrated. D; Took me forever to find the name of it though

That's what's attractive to me about the tsundere character, it's the confidence and clear departure from the typical 'teehee' girly bullshit every other female anime character archetype falls into.
    Kugyuu - Rie Kugimiya

I can stand tsundere trait in moderation, because it's just cute watching a girl trying to hide her feeling by saying the stock catchprase "it's not like I did it for you" or something along that line, but once if the entire character is build upon that basis, then it's just unfuckingbearable. Fuck those bipolar bitches that is incapable of normal human interaction because they're too emotionally retarded to express their fucking emotion in the logical manner.

I dont mind any archetypes as long the character is well written. Nothing piss me off more than a tsundere who is used to reset the romance every few episodes where you would expect progress.
Pretty much this, problem being that the sheer volume of tsundere character make it so much easier to just label them as shit.

There are many different types of tsunderes- it's an archtype that is has plenty of niches. All that's required is that they have a hard side and a soft side. Some are bi-polar bitches, others are just girls who are afraid of being hurt, and then there are even others. Some famous examples are biribiri and Senjougahara. Just because someone likes one type of tsundere, doesn't mean he'll like them all though. For example- I think Taiga should have died in the fucking blizzard.
Senjougahara is like hardly a tsundere though, to quote Araragi "I think 'tsundora' (worldplay on tundra) would be more appropriate"

I think the series just lampshade her as tsundere, with Oshino calling her Tsundere-chan, and her actually purposely doing cliche'd tsundere shit. She just likes teasing Araragi, I think she has more verbal sadistical tendency than anything else.

Yandere are hilarious but incredibly hard to find, the archetype is more difficult to pull off in a character than tsundere, which is pathetically easy and overdone. As far as tsundere goes, I don't mind them too much; being a girl myself, I can understand a desire to put up a strong front in order to switch around the damsel in distress stereotype. Thing is, tsundere used to be the exception and now it's the norm, shy girls are coming back into style (although they're oftentimes moe-bait). It's possible to do a strong female character without overdoing it and turning it into tsundere though...
That usually falls under the Kuudere archetype, with the kuu part referring to their "cool" exterior/aura they exude while having a soft "dere" spot for the romantic interest.

But seriously, archetyping of character is nice and all, but really the forcing of archetype these days are just annoying

I'm just waiting for the day this actually happens.

I did enjoy Spice and Wolf a lot but I only watched season and a little of season 2 if I recall correctly. The pacing was a bit too slow and I dropped it for whatever reason. Did their romance progress at all? It felt like it wasn't progressing much in season 1 and I got kind of bored of the Horo knows something wise and solves a problem episodic stint.

Horo is definitely an awesome character though and although not tsundere does fit my description of what makes some tsundere characters some of my favorites overall.

Their romance has progressed a lot in the novels, but it's far ahead of the anime. Novels are coming close to the end now.

The 2 minutes of panting was really unnecessary.. They could've just was easily added more to the fight itself.

On that note, I wish they would replace all the talking/ bus riding/ glass kissing scenes with more fighting. Even then, considering the pacing, we still wouldn't know wtf is going on storywise, but we'd have a lot more bad ass fighting going on lol

baka-tsuki translated a few volumes, however they have been removed due to US copyrights, I quickly looked for torrents but I can only find them in JP

Volume 3 in English will be released Dec 21 according to amazon, they get released at 2 Volumes a year (in June and Dec).

They could, but then they'd be cutting the whole homoerotic undertone that kept (more than?) half the fanbase watching the series.

    And that'd be unacceptable.

^True enough. Just feels like there's too many things that need to be said/ happen, but a lot more needless things going on instead. Ah well, it'll all come together eventually lol

The series is planned to run 2 season iirc, there's still plenty of time for plots and increasingly fabulous scenes.

Pretty much. I wish we could go back to the era where writers would use story and dialogue to make you like the characters, instead of using already popular archetype loved by everyone. It just feel wrong.

    [edit[

And while we are at it, can anyone recommend series with characters that behave more like real human, and less like mindless drone? I'm talking about stuff like Tokyo Magnitude, Monster, or even death note. Series like last exile and Xam'd work for me as well.

I get my dosage of those more realistic shit by watching House and Dexter.

In any case, any preference on the more recent shit? or anything within the decade or so works for you?

Anything within a decade or two is fine. Good series never get outdated.

Dexter is great, and I enjoy that kind of series, but they can't push tv show as far as animated series (special effect cost too much)

Orenoimo this week was kind of weird. Feels like we haven't had progress in awhile. It's almost the same every episode now, Kirino fails and Kyousuke solves the problem, Kirino acts like he didn't do anything with a tiny hint of acknowledgement. Kuroneko's expression at the end to Kyousuke's response to defending his sister was a bit odd. Oh well, like 4 more episodes or something, they better get on their shit and make this end well..

Was it just me.. or did the end of Star Driver seem.. I dunno.. odd? What with the panting and 'deep' breathing? Haha. Oh lord.. that was so awkward. Fight was win though. Animation continues to astound me.
