randomc posted the "Winter 2011 Preview" With Info, Trailers etc. Should give everyone a good idea the shows to look forward to or avoid.
Another slim pickings this season, I guess I'll be watching Madoka for sure since it's SHAFT, Fractale too since it's Kannagi/S1 Haruhi director, Houkago no Pleiades might have promise with Gainax tag on it, though if Shikabane Hime was any indication, everytime Gainax does something epic, the next series they made on the following season would be mediocre, but I'll give it a few episodes.
As much as I love Beelzebub manga, I never was a big fan of SJ adaptation, considering the longer they go, the shittier the quality/amount of filler gets, but I do love the manga, so I suppose a few episode wouldn't hurt. Nuramago anime still leave me with disappointment toward any anime adaptation from SJ series I love though.
For OVA, I'm looking forward to the coming Maria+Holic, Black Lagoon, Baka Test, Unicorn, Rakkyo and Kaibutsu Oujou OVA next season I guess.
It looks like I'll be watching about half of these at least, ugh, and I bet most of them will be thoroughly mediocre despite the interesting background/premises![]()
Two series I can say for sure I won't be watching are Freezing and Rio-Rainbow w/e- ... I'm so turned off by series that look like they could be interesting but are mainly driven by big-boobied women doing stupid things like showering, undressing and blushing/pushing men away. You should NOT need that much fucking fanservice to sell your goddamn show if it's any good at all, and that kind of fanservice just makes all those shows look exactly the same to me with few defining qualities (since roughly half of the show is taken up by girls doing said stupid things).
Kimi ni Todoke 2 is obviously a must.
Gonna give Madoka Magica a try just because of Kajiura.
Check GOSCIK since rare mystery is rare.
Rest is up to thought atm.

Touhou Anime Project X ufotable (Wish the imagine were higher but looking good so far).
Girls' Work (Type-Moon x ufotable)
![]()
What the fuck is that Touhou project stuff? Looks like... well it looks pretty bad.
Is Witchblade any good? All I know is that it has a milf that transforms into something.
For how exceedingly popular Touhou is around the world, I'm honestly surprised there's not more Touhou animes.
Except for the over fanserviced transformations it is a pretty good watch imo, though if your looking for non-stop action this isnt for you. There are a lot of funny moments, good fights, and several tear jerker moments. All in all I recommend it
And for the girls' work character designs did the orange haired on remind anyone else of mai and the sword slinging chick fro Mai hime? O_o . . . throw Misty into that as well
It's not mainstream, all kind of sales and merchandising pretty much happen in the doujin market, as popular as it may seem for people like us who pays attention to that kind of shit, it's hardly anything in the big picture.
Then there is the whole part where ZUN isn't really milking his shit into the mainstream like Type-Moon does with F/SN. The 2 attempt at anime has been done purely out of doujin work, the first one being oh my god what the fuck fucking horrible, and the second one being lolmediocre at best.
Kinda looking forward to an adaptation doing by ufotable since they may actually do a decent one, though the screenshot covering character from at least 3 different games makes it seem that they'd be stretching themselves too thin for any attempt at plot or whatever.
Not that the series actually has any sort of plot to begin with, since any character data is like 3 liner by ZUN, and the rest is more or less fanfic-derived personality that is depicted in most doujin.
Also, is that a dude in the screenshot, already fucking broke the golden rule.
Yeah it's a dude, its a crossover iirc.
Last episode of Ika Musume was really good, it was Mini-ika meets a normal episode and two parts long as opposed to the 1/3 pieces we usually see. Pretty sad storyline but plenty of good scenes and moments, I was actually feeling pretty sad for Ika. I really hope we get a season 2 for Ika Musume ><

Has anyone ever watched one of these 'simulcasts'? I randomly decided to browse anime news looking for information on upcoming season and came across an article about how Funimation was going to be 'streaming' the final episode. It says this Thursday as 12:15pm EST so that should be interesting if it's actually subbed.
As far as anime news goes, what is the best site for current ratings for season shows. Like where would I go to see that Oreimo was the highest rated and that DBZ Kai is doing well too. Mostly interested so that I don't miss any gems since currently I rely on this thread to get most of my news.
Funi's stuff is subbed. It's LQ tho compared to Crunchyroll.
I don't know what you mean by 'ratings'. Pretty much any show that is about a bunch of girls doing things is going to have high ratings on every generic anime ranking site every season (myanimelist for example).
