Well, oreimo may be an exception, but who knows what length the author will go through to sabotage the current pairing in order to milk more volumes.

I'm not knocking the anime compared to the novels.. I'm saying the characters were either designed to be unbelievably stupid and annoying, or their character was designed by a failure. I could rant on and on for at least a few minutes on how Taiga was an annoying piece of shit and how Minori was so stupid it was painful.

It's weird that so many people hate Taiga, I mean I liked ... the other 'bitch' girl by the end, but I really didn't have a problem with Taiga... in fact, I found her the most palatable of the stupid tsundere stereotypes I've seen. On the other hand, I found Kannagi's Nagi horridly boring and stupid, and I'm not a huge fan of Shana either. Guess personal preference... I'm tired of the tsundere stereotype like everyone else, but I liked Taiga for the most part.

I love the tsundere archtype, yet I hate taiga with a passion. D: The easiest way to categorize her is a stupid fucking annoying whiny little bitch. Minori was dumb as hell most of the series, and at one point was a complete bitch, but I still liked her. Amy was bitch at the beginning, but quickly evolved into bro-tier. I want to go into the specifics of why I hate Taiga, and rant away, but it seems I've successfully made myself forget at least half of it. If only I could pull up old 4chan posts lol.

I think I liked Taiga a lot because she ended up being much less than the usual two-dimensional archetype in the romantic story buildup. Normally a story like that runs from tsun through to the eventual giving in to dere, but it's almost always just a romantic collapse. Taiga was shown to feel not only convincing feelings for Ryuji, but also kids, her parents, classmates, etc. Her dere was multi-faceted unlike most characters like her where the focus is solely the romance. Moreover, she had actual reasons to be the kind of person she was, and eventually changed by the end, which also doesn't usually happen - it's such a cliche now that people just accept tsunderes for the stupid bitches they are and don't realize or care anymore that tsundere is generally a personality problem which has to be overcome. The show basically showed her overcoming her personality problem, gradually opening up to others (not just her romantic interest either) and generally acting in a very believable way (comparatively).

Still though, as a pretend tsundere, she's still leap and bound better than most if not all "real" tsundere...which kinda speaks volume of the entire character archetype.

Who else is looking forward to Fractale tomorrow? Back when I was looking at the winter charts for the first time, I figured it would be the best new show out this season, so I hope I'm not disappointed.
