I wouldn't expect the sales for FMP to be that huge, the DVD sales of anime didn't start to blow up until the last few years.

Plus KyoAni director said they wouldn't do FMP until the novels were over, although that comment was years ago. It's all the hope I have :> FMP author is very close to KyoAni.

Does anyone know if it's gonna be a full-on comedy, or is it going to get more serious? It doesn't seem like it's going to be as episodic and casual as Gintama, but it has a good number of similarities already.

Thanks for posting those BD/DVD sales Ker. Those were interesting to take a look at, especially the shows that weren't major hits. I wonder if it has to do with how big the anime/otaku fanbase is, the price of the BD/DVD, or if people record all the late night shows and save them. No surprise that fanservice shows that were censored on TV have higher sales.

What I find the most interesting is Bakemonogatari sold more copies (78380) than all other SHAFT series combined (74889). The difference between the two is a little more than what Maria Holic sold.

I got a feeling that the only reason the s2 Bakemonogatari hasn't been out there is that they're still going WTF over the entire thing.

It must've been some cosmic fluke that bakemonogatari become the hit that it is, because really I can't imagine it being anything else. Somehow all the elements that would otherwise make mediocre-decent anime coalesce into one of the best series in that year.

They're probably shitting their pants because they could not replicate whatever magic they did the first time around.

Either that or Shinobu's CV being Aya Hirano is holding out the production if they're going for Kizumonogatari, at which I'd say drop that fucking bitch, she had no line all season 1, and there are so much better voices in the market.

I really wish the Touhou anime was just Touhou by itself without any Tenchou, but depending on how it's received by fans, I hope they make a straight Touhou anime later. Should be the most hyped anime of the year whenever it comes out, though.

I've done it before without shippuden. In fact, when I first watched naruto I watched the first 100 episodes over the course of 3 days. Since the pain arc was so awesome in the manga, I decided that I'm going to relive all the awesome moments of naruto during my journey to watch it. The first time he becomes a boss against Zabuza. When Sasuke gets his sharingan. Naruto using the kyuubi's chakra for the first time. Pretty much the entirety of the chunin exams from start to finish. Using rasengan for the first time. And then the fight against Sasuke.

It's going to be awesome. Only at episode 12 right now, but that's because I apparently slept for another 14~ hours. Going to shower up, eat dinner, and then watch until I go to sleep again. :D

Would you guys consider people who frequent this thread 'anime otaku'? I watch a lot of anime more than most of the American population and probably the Japanese population too, for that matter. I don't consider myself obsessed but I do enjoy it and selectively choose to find and watch certain anime. So is the otaku part the obsession or is it just the enjoyment/hobby?
