Good god QB is fucking disturbing. I never thought so until people started pointing it out, and now the more I look at h- no, the more he looks at me, the more disturbing it gets D:
is there a non-mecha "realistic" space action drama on the horizon? Or something I haven't seen yet I could watch. I need one right now.
On the way, don't think so.
But there is this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planetes
Also *DANGER* TVTROPES WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE AND EAT HOURS OF YOUR LIFE *DANGER* http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...ictionHardness You can check for some anime there, if you can make it back out again. Just, DONT CLICK ANY LINKS.
Now that's one thing I never understood, TV tropes doesn't hold that much interest for me. I can't follow links endlessly from it like youtube or wikipedia. Hmm...
i have decided i hate that website just from glancing over it
I never finished moonlight mile but it was kind of 'meh' was only interesting because of the sex. first episode i was all like "whoa that comes out of nowhere"
firefly was the only thing i got off the site that i need to watch, but it's not anime so oh well. i'm looking for something along that vein. i've seen cowboy bebop and outlaw star. i saw stellvia listed but i already saw that and it wasn't very memorable.
The problem is, very realistic or "hard" sci-fi isn't super popular.
You just aren't gonna get much of it.
i feel like one is due though
looking at wiki i have a strong inclination for josei manga based shows, i'll see if I can find some more of those too
Hmm, Ergo Proxy is a pretty deep and dark sci-fi Anime, but it isn't a Space Western like Bebop of Outlaw Star (in fact, it has nothing to do with space). Maybe Trigun, but that's more like a real western just set on a different planet. If you're gonna count Trigun, then you might as well watch Gungrave too (which is much better anyway, IMO), though this one has even less to do with space.
I understand being in a mood for a super specific genre after watching one that you really enjoyed, but with Anime, you're lucky to get more than 2-3 of anything that fall within that narrow of a filter outside of Mecha, School life, Harem, Magic Girl, etc. Non-mech space dramas are thin on the ground, and the 2 you named are really the only ones that fit all of your criteria that I can think of.
MyAnimeList has a very high ranked Anime called Legend of the Galactic Heroes that fits your criteria, but it's ancient as far as Anime goes (started in 1988).
I will agree on Gungrave. That is easily one of my favorites of all time. Brandon & Harry's story is top notch.
So I watched Katanagatari the other day. It was very decent, but I feel like it could have been a LOT better with more episodes put into developing the characters. It just felt so RUSHED to me. Like it was written out perfectly with every event hitting hard and making you feel like it mattered... and then they had to cut it down to fit the airing schedule or something so that what we got was a mere skeleton of what it should have been. It's like everything hit with like 70% of the force that it should have because we didn't know quite enough to really care.
MASSIVE SHOW RUINING SPOILER WITHIN

I kinda hope Katanagatari gets a movie I'd really like to see

Planetes was already mentioned, but you could also try Starship Operators http://psgels.blogsome.com/2008/10/1...review-875100/
It's a lot better than it sounds, pretty good show. The battles are pretty realistic for space, there's no sound, the fights are extremely slow and usually at very long range and all about strategy.
oh thanks for the suggestions, doing gungrave first, then i'll try out planetes. i've already seen ergo and loved it and trigun was okay. i think i've seen starship operators when it first came out but i'm not sure if i finished it as it was a pretty long time ago
Mahou Shoujo, aw yeah.
Holy shit, QB just fucking kept it real, he didn't even flinch when explaining all of that shit
What a fucking epic episode
Spoiler: show
Kyoko is eating healthier now!
Also, has there ever been a character more generally well hated than Kyubey? I'd like to hear some suggestions.
