Anime Thread. [Prob not 56k safe]

QB is not exactly a hated character for me, at least not in the same sense I'd hate most anime character. His fucking devotion in trolling Madoka into becoming a Mahou Shoujo and his lack of remorse on basically everything he did is outright admirable.

Anyway, the show has surprisingly much more depth and twist than I would have expected, and Kajiura's soundtrack just make the scenes that much more amazing, easily the best of the season if it wasn't obvious as it is.

Fractale was somewhat disappointing for something I've waited 2 weeks to watch, and I'm not gonna even bother with IS.

I don't mind Kore wa Zombie desu ka but it is not nearly as good as Mahou Shoujo. Heard good things about Level E but haven't had time to watch it, heard it was funny, didn't expect it to be funny from the summary I read about it on Random Curiosity, but after I heard that I decided to grab it. Really though, IS, Freezing, Fractale, I have the first episodes of them all but I haven't been keeping up. Watched 4 episodes of IS but it was new girl each episode harem style.

Kaylia and I were talking (shock!) and we tossed some ideas around and came up with a little list about Puella Magi Madoka Magica that you guys might find fun. Pretty much we tried to assign one of the seven deadly sins to each girl.

Kyoko - Gluttony - She's always eating
Sayaka - Pride - Her ego and idealism
Mami - Greed - Keeping Madoka and Sayaka to herself/wish for herself/gold-theme blonde hair
Homura - Sloth - Never finished killing Kyubey/only tells Madoka things once/watchs lots of fights

And then it gets hard but:

Hitomi - Lust - She's after Kyosuke and she thought Madoka and Sayaka were lesbos in the second episode, so her mind is in the gutter
Kyubey - Jealousy - Jealous of Madoka's powers/potential

which leaves

Madoka - Rage. I can only hope that's true because then the next few episodes would be AWESOME.

Of course, this isn't perfect but it was a fun idea. What do you guys think?

That kind of thematic is often present in story based on christian mythology, so yeah, it's definitively a possibility. I'm not buying kyubey though, that little thing is emotionless. ;/

Depending of sloth and wrath's interpretation, you could swap Madoka and Homura around. Homura definitively has a grudge against everything, and her general apathy/cold behavior indicate some sort of inner rage. However, apathy can also be considered as sloth, so it works either way.

Madoka on the other hand is taking forever to make her choice (especially if the vision come true). Sloth could works better for her.

Hitomi was envious of madoka/sayaka early, she is stealing sayaka's love...Her hair are green. I think envy is more appropriate for her, even if Lust works. Lust could be madoka's mom (if she is cheating), or a character that will be introduced later.

Level E is great. It may not seem funny from a description, but it totally is. The main character is such a douchebag you can't help but laugh. Watch 3 episodes, if that doesn't have you hooked, then forget about it.

It's basically like a Gintama clone. Time will tell if it will be as good as Gintama, but that's honestly a hard act to top considering that Gintama has been running for over 200 episodes now.

Level E Ep 6

Level E continues its awesome. The chemistry between just about all of the characters is just fantastic and what's funny series is also really making use of it. I love this show. I really do.


PS I have no patient for this season at all. Thank god for American shows Young Justice, Sym-Bionic Titan, Archer and more or less the Fall Season lineup Index Season 2, Bakuman and Star Driver to fill the void until Spring Season.

It's basically like a Gintama clone. Time will tell if it will be as good as Gintama, but that's honestly a hard act to top considering that Gintama has been running for over 200 episodes now.

I haven't watched much Gintama, but the set up for most of the big punchlines are built up over the course of a few episodes/chapters, then the punchline lands and it's fucking hilarious. The arc they're on now I remember reading ages ago, and the way it ends up is hilarious. Generally it's just good to watch, I can't remember an overlaying story, but the prince and his staff are damn fun to watch.

Madoka 7th episode was great again. Kajiura's soundtrack is still epic, the "2d" fight scenes was one of the best choregraphy I've seen recently (too short sadly) and the story is still great. I'm seriously impressed by the show so far (next to no fanservice, decent character development).

Fractale on the other hand was kinda a let down this week. Episode 3 served that purpose already, so I'm not sure why they spent another episode showing us how these people lived. Still a good show though, I see no reason to drop it.

I swear this show gets better every week. each individual plot clicks along at a really great pace, and the Prince carries on trolling the universe even with his short screen time. by far the funniest show this season.

Index Season 2 EP 19 Silent Night

Finally! the invasion and carnage begins, it’s fairly clear the plot has begun moving towards a grander scheme of things and ironically Last Order will be the reason for Accelerators suffering all through the series with no real comfort insight and darkness will be his only salvation.

I really do like QB as a character more when he's being the remorseless devil advocate like last episode instead of trolling madoka into making a contract with him during the previous episodes.

It really portrays him as this true neutral observer of the entire situation when he's not pulling his recruiting run.

For me, this middle part of the season has been a huge letdown to what I thought was going to be a pretty solid season. I haven't dropped anything, but I see a lot of 8s and 7s (mainly 7s... and my scale runs from 10-5, so below average). There's only one that's above an 8 and that's Madoka (like that's a surprise). No 6s though.

The only problem I have with a K-ON clone is the characters looking so similar. Beyond that...meh. I'll watch it anyway. After all, K-ON was like the #1 most texted word in Japan for a while or something, soooo... they figure they must be doing something right, I would probably copy it too lol.

Madoka is great, I agree with the assessment of QB that Zilong made: it really IS admirable what a dick he is all the time, both in trolling the fuck out of Madoka (which in turn trolls the fuck out of us with the OP) and just generally not giving a damn.
Got to wonder though, he is clearly not human, of course he cannot understand the way humans would feel about the things he does. Yet, he seems very smart, maybe he should be smart enough to anticipate it. Who knows how long he's been doing this business, it's quite likely he's seen it all before, does understand to a degree, and just does not give a crap.

On another note, Gintama is (imo) WAY better than Level E and I can't see Level E being able to top Gintama unless it does something insanely drastic. Gintama is hilarious in ways that Level E cannot achieve at this point in time. Then again, the tone and devices of the two series are pretty different. Level E is funny, but the main source of the humor got pretty flat and dull for me already. Predictability in comedy is sometimes one of the worst things for it, especially for this series. Yes it's still funny, but much less so.

I probably need to explain my problem with the trailer. The Nichijou manga is about deer, robots and people being blasted out of the window with rocket launchers were is that in the trailer? yes it has moe and slice of elements but that's only half of series.

Predictability in comedy is sometimes one of the worst things for it, especially for this series. Yes it's still funny, but much less so.

I'm not commenting on the other stuff, but the only thing predictable about the prince is that he be trolling. How he does so isn't so predictable (at least for me). Wish I could remember more about the manga, will definitely need to pick it up again.

And I can't watch any show that has more than 50 episodes. Anything longer is pretty much guaranteed to have shitty animation, and that I cannot stand.

Gintama's animation isn't bad, I hate shitty animation too and I haven't really seen any in Gintama (such as the crappy quality Bleach and Naruto churned out sometimes anyway). It's a pretty HQ series in pretty much all cases. Nothing trolls quite like Gintama trolls (yes, not even Madoka). I wouldn't be so quick to sing its praises if I wasn't absolutely blown away by it once I got into it (a few eps in is where it really starts picking up and doesn't stop).

It also helps that Kugimiya Rie plays a foul-mouthed punk kid char who gangsta raps, picks fights, yells a lot and doesn't act like a lady, much less a fucking tsundere, at all. Seeing her in a role that is almost 100% opposite of what she's typecast in now is fun.

The personalities in the series are all really good though. Not so much 'typical'... I would say more like atypical... >_>
