Anime Thread. [Prob not 56k safe]

So I just started watching Freezing. Is it supposed to be a poor man's Eva with a ton (in terms of the Nova and other things like Freezing fields) with tons of T&A and a ton of other pointless stuff? I guess so. It's mildly entertaining at least.

There hasn't been any sighting of Novas in Freezing since the first episode, and since then it's basically been "introduce random character for one episode bitchery against the boy and/or girl" for now. There's hinting that "something" is about to happen soon, but if the show's only 12 episodes, they're running out of time to do something good beyond fanservice.

Wait, 12 episodes? That's all that's confirmed? Oh lord, this is like HSotD all over again. I know the manga is only like 40 chapters in or whatever, but surely they could do more than that?

I hate when the decide to animate something that's still in it's infancy in manga. FMA, Hellsing, HSotD, Claymore, etc. It's so stupid.

Freezing is a bit farther than 40 chapters, that's just what the translations are up to.

For the anime they condensed like 4-5 chapters into just one episode (was mostly about a side character). But they are also doing non cannon stuff (like last episode).

From like Chapter 30-38ish there's a huge Nova battle but doesn't look like they will get to it in the anime.

Sidenote though; anyone else here a .hack fan like myself? .hack//Quantum is a 3-part OVA and I'm sitting here patiently waiting on ep 2 to be subbed. Interesting take on the series and I'm kinda wondering how they'll decide to end it in 2 episodes.

I watched sign when it was on adult swim. Downloaded and watched it completely some time ago. Played the first 2 games that came out and bought the third but never finished it. Never bought the fourth. (IMOQ) Watched the dvds that came with the first three games as well. Always wanted to finish the games but I remember getting pissed off that the characters sold off ultra rare armor that I had them use for buffing the entire party. Combine that with ADHD and well, you get unfinished games.

Been meaning to watch the other series, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I always cringe when a story use physics principles to explain something magical, but it could have been worse. They used entropy correctly at least...kinda (they were talking about "free energy" and not "energy", and they aren't countering entropy, they are countering entropy increases) .

And to anyone who thinks Kyubey's stuff was completely made up, it was based on the universe heat death, or at least, a sci-fi version of it that involve aliens with unknown power source that most likely speed up the process.

Fixed for ya. Also, I don't know what to say as of yet regarding Freezing. Did we finally obtain plot after 8 episodes of nothing? One can hope. Then again, to be fair, I'm not sure if that's why I'm still watching ir or not haha.

Oh and uh...nerd rage @ .hack//Quantum eps not being subbed. I either need to learn japanese or beg someone to sub them so that I can enjoy my guilty pleasure of .hack.

Kyouko's character is definitely one of my favorites, if not the favorite, especially with her going out with a bang. I don't think it was totally necessary though with Homura arriving but I suppose Kyouko understood she didn't have the energy to win alone without doing that suicidal move of breaking her own soul gem. Poor Homura, I have no idea how this is going to work out without Madoka's help, either from the future or present. The OP scenario with Homura losing a fight and Madoka watching on is falling into place. Kyouko's suggestion to Madoka to 'think about it' when the time comes was some huge foreshadowing too. We are definitely going to see Madoka as a magical girl, in some way shape or form.

I actually really like the manga, but stopped at 37 or so because they were behind in translating the raws. I'll have to start reading it again now that school is dying down.

I looked at the Freezing chapters up until 60. 41+ are in Chinese obviously, but man, there is some fucked up shit in the manga. Chapter 43-45 are fucking insane. How they would have that animated is beyond me. Maybe they are too afraid to animate it. (lol)

I haven't watched any of the .Hack series other than .Hack//Sign. I didn't see how any of them that could top that series. It's one of my favorites, I think. If anyone has input on the rest of the other series, feel free to give me some input.
