The odds were definitively on its side, and it delivered. TM 8.0 was one of my favorites series in the last 2 years. I plug it all the time because it's such a good show that went completely unnoticed when it aired.

There is usually one or two decent show every season if you know where to search. The best way to find worthwhile animes is to open next season chart here and follow these steps.

#1 Eliminate everything with a loli
#2 Eliminate everything that has sexual undertones or overtones
#3 Eliminate every picture with a female cast, or harem

At this point, 90% should be gone. It's a lot, but don't worry, you didn't miss anything. In the rare case you did miss something good, I can assure you that people in this thread will let you know.
#4 Elimite the show that are directed at children under 12 years old (shonen crap and series that sell toys).
#5 There will be around 3 or 4 animes left at this point. Read the synopsis, and if it's a story that sound original, give it a shot.


The alternative method is to open wikipedia and check for Shaft's, Gainax's, Bones' and Noitamina slot's animes. The rest can probably be ignored.

I never thought I'd watch another magical girls show again, but I finally got talked into Madoka. I'm glad I ended up watching it. It's really damn good even though all the characters are deplorable.

Full Metal Panic, Haruhi (not endless eight), Kanon, Clannad/After Story, Lucky Star, K-On!

Not sure how you can argue with the success of any of these, I didn't particularly care for K-On! outside the music singles but BD sales don't lie.

Nichijou OVA

-Good and fluid animation.
-No Plot just cute girls doing cute thing with girl robot and a talking cat.
-Decent voice cast.
-Humor is very KyoAni Style
-Pacing felt very disjointed.
-A lot of Moe moments.
-Very calming music

If you love K-on or Shows were you just switch your Brains Off, while enjoying simple humor and cuteness. you can't go wrong with this series.

PS I am not watching anymore of this. I hated it from start to finish but I know it's not aimed for me. so more power to you if you love this stuff.

Nothing inherently wrong with KyoAni but yeah their stuff is definitely not for everyone. Funnily enough, the one most people have never heard of (Munto TV version) was not very typically KyoAni at all (and probably why it did the worst out of all in terms of sales). I am a pretty big KyoAni fan, I quite enjoy their animation, although sometimes the Air/Kanon/Clannad eyes bother me, but eh.

I like watching cute girls do cute things, what can I say =(

Clannad and Haruhi are in my top 5 list, so I'm willing to look past my dislike of K-on. Honestly, the fact that they could undo the resentment from the horribleness of endless eight and keep Haruhi amazing with Disappearance is a testament to KyoAni's skill. Of course, endless eight is a testament to something else..

I love the franchise despite the Endless Eight... although, I suspect that is largely due to the fact that I didn't watch the show as it aired, but marathoned it and was pre-warned about the 8. I could definitely see how people might have some resentment if they were watching that shit as it came out and for 8 straight weeks.

It's not like it was KyoAni's decision to do 8 episodes for that. If I recall some of the animators were unhappy doing it but they have to animate what their sponsors pay them to.
