If you're talking about recent animes exclusively, I would say that Panty&Stocking, Stardriver, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica seem to be the biggest hit on this board over the last 3 months. Take that for what you want.

The only DVD/Blu-Ray release of 2.0 was 2.22, so if you have a rip of some kind, it's what you already have. 1.0 was a bit different, since they tweaked a number technical issues for 1.01, then rereleased it with added stuff as 1.11.
It's coming out stateside next week anyway.

Yuki Kajiura is definitively top tier. I don't think I would enjoy madoka anywhere as much without her OST.

To answer your gripe, I don't think the girls can wish for something anything. Of course, it wasn't explained and probably won't be, but I think it's safe to assume that a wish can't "cost" more energy than they have access to. How much energy they have depend of the emotions, and is probably the same amount they will release when they transform.

Holy hell. I just found out that girl did the music for .hack and it had that same depressing Celtic music I loved so much. <3

I do recall one of the wishes mentioned was Immortality, doesn't that kind of fuck with the concept also? I never liked the whole "any wish is possible" notion, it just has too many flaws. Still an amazing anime regardless though, that's my one gripe and it would be the same with any show that involved wishes or genies.

Depends on what definition of Immortality they use. Immortal does not necessarily mean invincible. It might just mean that they don't age, but can still be killed by other means.

They haven't explained enough to even speculate on how the system works. For all we know, they really CAN wish for anything, but QB is expecting them to make low-energy cost wishes (compared to the energy they give back) just because they're stupid. Kinda like running a Casino; it's possible that everyone could hit a major winning streak at the same time and the Casino goes under instantly, but the odds are just very much against it. The profit from the stupid girls' wishes is enough to absorb the losses sustained from the smart girls' wishes. Hell, maybe that's how QB picks the girls, lol; just go for the dumb ones.

Probably also cause he doesn't really reveal any of it to them. It seems he approaches girls during moments of vulnerability (Mami when she was at death's door, Homura after Madoka had died, Sayaka when her crush was sinking into depression, Kyoko when her family was struggling to afford food) and exploits that. Perhaps he doesn't explain what his purpose is in getting girls to fight witches not just cause he doesn't want them to know they'll become witches, but also because a wish which solved the problem is outside their realm of power. I still wanna know what wish Madoka made in the original timeline as it must have been something huge considering her hesitation in the current one.

On an unrelated note.. meant to bitch about this earlier but forgot.. But Hitomi is a bitch and if we get a bad end, I'm blaming it entirely on her >.> <.<;

I'm thinking in this current time-line it'll be to save Homura from Malpurgis, it feels predictable but who knows. I guess you make a strong point about vulnerability and lolteenage girls. I love the sad song so much I'm listening to 6:20 - 8:00 from episode 10 over and over...fuck why can't they release this song on youtubeeee.

Maintening a single body for a while doesn't cost so much energy probably. I dont think it would be a big wish if you look at it from a physics perspective

Kyubey's offered to transform Madoka into a "god" and changes physics law, which make it seem that her wish could be a lot more powerful than anyone else in the series.

And yeah, just pick any soundtrack made by kajiura and you will recognize her style immediatly.

) the stuff she did OST for, since they're nice goodies most of the time.

I'll jump on the Kajiura train as well. I first heard her stuff in Noir, and later .hack//SIGN. In addition to the Xenosaga III OST she did all of the cutscene music in Xenosaga II. All quality work.

Looks like the next Megami magazine is going to include a "Madoka Complete book"... before the airing completes. Obviously the timing was off because of the earthquakes, but looks like there's going to be lots of spoilers!
