Thanks for the responses on Suzumiya, watched it in original airing order and it was perfect imo. Still need to watch Season 2 but won't be until the weekend probably.

Was a little worried when I realized the name was The Melancholy of... since I just watched Clannad/After Story and then Tokyo Magnitude 8 right after, not realizing they were both such sad stories. I figured Tokyo would be but I had no clue what Clannad was about. Suzumiya had me rolfing after Clannad/Tokyo had me tearing up. I usually don't react much to sad stories but shockingly both of those shows had me tearing up. Started Suzumiya off thinking I might be all out bawling by the end but it brought tears of joy instead.

Anyone ever heard of Naoki Urasawa's Monster? Friend told me to watch it but I couldn't find any dl's for it. Found it on Hulu so I'm wondering if there is just a different jp name for it or it's just not going to be on anime torrent sites? Is it even worth searching for?

Even better, watch (and play - Xenosaga 3 ) the stuff she did OST for, since they're nice goodies most of the time.

When I first heard they were replacing Mitsuda, my first reaction was suicide bombing, but then I realize who was the replacement and didn't feel so bad anymore. In the end, I think it was an upgrade over Mitsuda's soundtrack (his ost was good but it didnt top CT/XG)

And yeah, Noir was the first time, then there was madlax and .hack. I can't say I was a huge fan of any of these series at the time, all I remember is music.

Monster is a great serie that everyone should watch imo. The animation might turn you off, and the pacing is a little off in the middle of the series (manga pacing is better here), but it was one of the better psychological thriller/drama that I watched beside Death Notes.

It might throw you off because there is absolutely nothing "anime" about it, but I think it was a good thing.

I just watched the Clannad movie. I was seriously crying. Bad isn't quite the word to describe it; more like a travesty to every possible aspect of the game and anime. I went in with low expectations, but c'mon... I'm surprised Key even let themselves be associated with that crap. Now I'm all pissed off.

Gintama is an episodic anime, meaning it doesn't really have a story arc. Every once in a great while, they'll have a serious episode that might introduce some major changes and have some semblance of a plot, but they're extremely few and far between. Mostly the show is just a comedy where the episodes basically don't have anything to do with each other (though a good number of jokes pop up again and again, so if you skip around, you might miss something). Think of it like a sitcom Anime. Also, it's fucking hilarious.

The problem was they took the likeness of each character they felt like and made up whatever story they wanted for them. The vast majority of plot elements were so far off base from the game it was depressing. The pacing didn't bother me nearly as much as the disregard for the original story. They could have kept the the story straight while still using the method of exposition they did in the movie. I suppose my feelings on it are akin to how the Uncharted movie seems to be shaping up; taking the IP because it sells and not really paying attention to the source material. </soapbox>

Angel Beats

To be fair Angel Beats was at least an original work, was well animated, had a great score (probably the part I enjoyed the most), and at least a decent plot. It was in need of a longer run to better develop the characters and so as to not rush the story. It's much more deserving of my HDD space than the Clannad movie.

omg.... I hate myself so much for being right... (...)... I think both reason works here; 1. Shaft is too busy, 2. Last 2 episodes are on the level of Evangelion. This is bakemonogatari all over again...

Edited: Reworded some part. Apparently, it's not really cancellation. They said 'distribution will be 'suspended', rather than outright being canceled. Nuance is more like 'broadcasting is indefinitely delayed + there is no-plan on airing sooner', not 'It will not be aired in TV forever'.
