Indeed, that bit with the space shuttle was amazing. The way the light from the boosters was muffled behind the clouds, the smoke trail and how it caught the light and had shadows coming off it and how it blew away later on. Beautiful.

Edit: And the part in the field afterwards was fantastic too.

It can be either something old and already finished, or something new with episodes still being released. Past favorites of mine include: Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin, Gundam SEED, and Dragon Ball Z (lol). English subbed is fine, though I do prefer English dubbed (I expect plenty of "blah blah blah EN dubbed ruins animes, etc."). So yeah, help appreciated! (reposted from my nub thread, because apparently glancing over the title of a thread at least twice a day does NOT help you to realize its existence...)

My favorite part is when they enter in the market. I remember being amazed by the amount of details put on every items. The shuttle and field were amazing as well.

Do yourself a favor and get used to subbed anime. It's that much better. I dont know anyone who want to go back to dubbed anime after 3-4 series.

I'm not really sure what to recommend since the only anime you watched before are the most popular one, and have never ending story. You could give Gurren Laggann a try, it's a pretty good anime. Watch at least up to ep 7, because 4-6 kinda sucked.

I'm watching Baccanno! atm, and I think everyone would enjoy it. Only 12 episodes, but story is really well done imo.

@ Ryushii: I can't really get a grip on what you like to watch, so a general list is approaching.

Claymore (good action anime, though the story starts to diverge from the manga at around episode 20, but if you like it then you should pick up the manga)
Code Geass (awesome mech anime that differs from the usual format, great story telling and characters)
Full Metal Panic (again, robots with a very good comedic twist along with good action and characters)
FMP: Fumoffu (one of the funniest things you may ever watch)
FMP: The Second Raid (see FMP)
School Rumble (amazing comedy anime with amazing characters and love connections that keep you guessing endlessly. Takes a while to get into it but once you do you'll be glad)
Black Lagoon (excellent action anime, kind of like a modern day Cowboy Bebop)
Cowboy Bebop (you'll thank me after you watch it)
Last Exile (great story and characters, nice concept as well)
Azumanga Daioh (old school comedy that's incredibly well done, if you like it then read Yotsuba&, funniest manga ever)
Ichigo Mashimaro (another comedy that's worth watching if you like laughing)

It's the batch torrent I used. Feel free to go look for another, I believe another group subbed it as well. And yes, the series is only 13 episodes long.

I watched and loved all of those (except code geass), but I wouldnt recommand half of them to someone who only watched DBZ (and other clones). Cowboy Beebop, FMP and Last Exile are probably the most accessibles for someone who is starting.

I agree about Cowboy Bebop, was one of the first animes I started watching back on old-school Adult Swim and thats what really got me started into anime. You'd also like Trigun/Yu Yu Hakusho/Full Metal Alchemist (Although it gets really boring in the middle) and Inuyasha for a good while before it gets boring and repetetive as well.

I got a few bad reactions showing school/comedy/romance to people who never watched animes before (or 2-3), they just don't get it and get bored really fast. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's the impression I get.

Semi-Big news. Gonzo planning to released subbed shows same day as Japan airing.

The Japanese media company GDH has announced that the YouTube, CrunchyRoll, and BOST online video services will be streaming new titles from GDH's Gonzo animation studio — worldwide and on the same day as their Japanese broadcast. The video streams, which will be in Japanese with English subtitles, will start with The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk (pictured at right) and Blassreiter anime series. Druaga premieres on April 4, and Blassreiter premieres on April 5.

All three video services offer their content via streaming, although GDH also mentioned "fee-based download of high-resolution movie files" in its press release. America's Viz Media offered NTV's Death Note episodes for download within half a year of their Japanese broadcast, but GDH's new initiative is the first global, simultaneous streaming of multiple series from a major anime studio. GDH added that its "decision to provide its content globally in parallel with Japanese broadcast is an effort to offer equal accessibility and new viewing opportunities to fans around the world, while at the same time showcasing a legal online alternative to illegal file-sharing and downloading." GDH also emphasized that these services are for foreign viewers only; the company already has deals in place to stream its content through services within Japan.
