bard song, fire 3/4, and firaga 3 lag

i'd been struggling with this issue for a while and recently i upgraded my mobo, ram, video card, and oc'd my processor (not for the issue itself, but just for a faster computer).

thinking that it'd fix the issue, i was pretty annoyed to see that it pretty much didn't do a single thing. sooo, i posted on windower forums, and one of the admins suggested that i try out the drivers at http://www.tweaksrus.com

took me a while to finally get it installed (got no clue why it kept spamming me with incompatibilty problems), but once it was set up, it was totally perfect. can't tell you how happy i am, as this problem has plagued me for a long, long time.

anyway the point of this post, is i'm sure many others have the same problem and no recourse, so if you wanna check out the drivers at that site (i used xtreme-g mobileforce VS 101.41 m6 drivers), they might help others who have similar lag.

Same. I got a new computer which is roughly 7439801450145071 times stronger and faster than my old one. My old one never had a single issue with bard songs or spells, but the new one hates them.

When I got my new computer a while back, Escape and Firaga 3 was causing me to crash. But that fixed itself when I switched off SLI mode. I guess FFXI doesn't like SLI. So I just turn it on when I want to do other things, and turn it off when I want to play FFXI.

it's just bad drivers. there were drivers for both nvidia and ATI cards that were the most up to date out there, but they simply didn't support FF to its full extent. i had this same exact problem with my radeon 9800 and it drove me bonkers until i rolled back to a version that was released several months before.

from what i've heard, at least the latest ATI drivers don't have this problem, and it definitely seems like nvidia itself is the inferior company when it comes to knowledge/customer service/support.

it's an alternative driver released by a 3rd party that's made strictly for performance and gaming. nvidia cards only

Quick question, did u just randomly try out the drivers or was there a reason u picked the one u did. Of the 3 i tried from their site for my GeForce 6600 none of them have fixed my brd song slow down issues.

Lol.. I had an AGP 6600 and I tried every driver you could and it was no good for FFXI.

I found a old cheap ATI Radeon (no number after it.. the origional radeon) and it played FFXI much better until I finally went up to a 7800 PCIe

You just needa ditch that era of nvidia and go up to a a generation above or below it.

basically i just searched for the latest and most compatible xtreme-g driver.

searched for 7800 gtx, it came up with the xtreme-g mobileforce, so i got the latest vista 32-bit drivers i could find.

I have a 7800GS, what video card do you have and did it cause any of the normal texture corruption that usually happens when you use incompatible drivers? (like a 5x00 series card with any driver that isnt 57.61)

I dont want to trade song preformance for loss of preformance in other games, I assume the latest drivers will work with my card fine

what you can do is just check their forums and search your card (type in exact version you got) and it should come up with a bunch of different, compatible drivers. get the latest one for your OS, and if it doesn't work you can try another.

i haven't had any problems at all with the ones i used in the original post. the ones on the site are pretty much just made for gaming, so you're not likely going to lose performance by upgrading.

so you used the 101.41 drivers? if so Im going to pop those in soon and check it out, I would love lag free FFXI, my phenominal cosmic power of a computer is tired of feeling shitty ; ;

yep, the ones in OP, mobileforce 101.41 something something.

just make sure they're the ones that are appropriate for your OS, cause there are several different variants (32 bit vista, 64 bit vista, xp, etc).
