    Graphical Glitch

    Hello!

I'm not quite sure what's going on here. =/ I have an Nvidia GeForce 6800 XT. A friend of mine suggested that the card might have broken... but its not -that- old (less than a year).

Anyone else experience this? Or do you all have any ideas?

My old radeon9600 had the same problem, one day it would look like this:

Next day it would look something like this:

Then one day I logged on to see this:

    Then I bought a new card. ^.^

go to advanced settings, troubleshoot tab, and disable write combining.
The 6600-6800 series NVidia cards blow really. Takes a lot of effort to get them to run right.
If that didn't help you, google 'nvidia 6800 artifacing'. You will find a million things to try.

I'm guessing your card might be overheating based on that screenshot.

Do you ever take the case apart and blow off the dust that collects on your PC hardware with some compressed air? It does wonders and really lengthens the life of your components.

When lines like that show up, it's the beginning of the end for your graphics card. If you've caught the problem soon enough (i.e. it only starts doing that after a few hours of play), you might be able to get away with just cleaning any dirt clogging the fans. Otherwise, you might have cooked your video card.

Cue that Bunnykillah post for what could potentially happen.

It could be a driver problem, but I'd eliminate the possibility of it being your hardware overheating first.

I have problems similar to the OPs. Avatars, ghrahs, and I think wyverns get lines through them, and bard songs and stuff like that.

I don't have any SSs, but I think I'm due for a new card (I think its crashing my whole PC, that or the ram)

Somewhat similar problem. Ghrahs, Avatars, and other random models have transparent lines or boxes through them. I've fixed this before, but after reinstalling the game I have no idea what I did previously to fix it.

I had the exact same problem. Happened aftermy videocard overheated, eventually got worse and I had to change it.
