I still have Bomb Core but I use Fire Bomblet full time on all 3 jobs that can use it now. I prefer the accuracy for both melee and WS, especially when eating meat... And even more so after reading the values in a semi-recent post where attack caps on normal exp mobs, and I'm usually at/over/or close to that cap. So I prefer the accuracy since I'm almost never capped there.

So...I'm getting mixed signal here...is the PH every friar lanterns in halvung? Or just the 4 bombs near the ???

People are testing but the result so far is it's only the 4 bombs near the ??? in Halvung. Personally those are the only ones I've seen that drop it as well.

ok I'm also really confused, I spent a while in Halvung last night:

FACTS:

- all bombs are casters now, they were not before. Does that make them all smoky flash droppers: I don't know.

- ONLY 8 bombs not too far from the ??? are actually grower types (probably higher level bombs). 2 on the Big Bomb ramp, 1 across the bridge down the ramp, 2 on the way to mythril mouth gob, 1 near mythril mouth gob, and 2 a bit further when u go up the Big Bomb ramp and turn left at some point, near a lava pond.

We killed all the bombs we saw (grower or not grower) with TH3 on the way to the usual Big Bomb spot and near and only got the smoky flash from one of the 2 that pop on the ramp where Big Bomb used to pop...

I cannot draw any conclusion... but if people can confirm drop from bombs elsewhere (especially not grower type), it would be sweet. Also, if people could confirm ALL grower type (that's 8 bombs) drop it now, it would be less sweet, but still better than just the 3 that we used to know about.

You guys are making me feel good about beating Big Bomb when I did. I got the first drop on Shiva, drk/nin, thf/nin, rdm + brd (Wafik acted as replacement rdm for us on a friends char lol) and we didn't even know that ws's made it bigger, so we used ws's constantly >.> We survived and got drop lol

I sold my bomblet a few weeks back, guess I'll go camp it again soon :D That acc hurts so much to have lost >.>

Can definitely be soloed by RDM/NIN (and RDM/BLM a couple times) just kiting up and down his thin little ramp / DOT / Fire III since that's what I did over a dozen times back when Big Bomb was first released and Bomblet wasn't even listed on the AH. I had a general idea that it's a damage threshold that makes it grow, as Fire II would never make him or the PH grow, and Fire III always would. Would usually take 20 minutes so I'd wind up sleeping the repop for a while during the fight and most of the time I just had him full size anyway since bind and gravity landed fine with my gear / merits.

The problem with that strategy of soloing and kiting is that he will definitely go unclaimed and quite often; in fact it was something I used to my advantage. As long as DOT was on it gave me time to rebuf and even rest some mp and it wouldn't heal. If there are RMT there 24/7 though, the unclaimed thing becomes a very big problem, not to mention that if he's popped from a ??? that would mean killing him while sleeping two adds (since before one of them would be his PH).

Nearly all (if not all) bombs there were actually casters long before the Big Bomb update. For some reason when they "fixed" Big Bomb they weren't casters anymore, but then last update they changed back to casters.

RMT keep shouting in whitegate to sell the bomblet on carbuncle and everytime they shout like 10 people make fun of them cracking rice jokes. RMT lower their price by 100k every few hours on them.

Checked it out last night and I don't think there are 8 grower type bombs (at least not some of the ones mentioned here.)

The one across bridge down the ramp doesn't grow and neither do the 2 going towards Mythril Mouth. RMT were camping 2 on bridge and the 1 by Mythril Mouth. I tried killing a bunch of non-grower bombs with TH2.2 and got nothin, which of course doesn't disprove anything but my pikachu luck's gotten 2/4 diorites before so :D

So, still can't explain how some servers have a huge supply of bomblets in so little time unless they found a way to dupe the pop item or there's some secret place to farm them...

The two grower type bombs by mythrilmouth arn't the ones in the hall on the way to him. They're across the bridge from him in with the 3 truesight trolls. Kill the pupetmaster troll near mithrilmouth so you have a spot to fight them.

Mithrilmouth is _completely_ passive. He won't do anything to you unless you do something to him.

Damn I thought they were growing... so there are only 6 growers?
2 in the mythril mouth room, 2 on the ramp and 2 near the lava pond?
