and I agree, I feel bad that Tierkris is his introduction... please don't think it represents the series. if you hate it, you'll love Suikoden II. and if you love it, Suikoden II will blow your world apart.

I do recommend playing the first Suikoden before II, not because it's that great, but because it's good enough and getting all the references adds so much to the second game... not to mention carrying over your save file and getting Tir with his bad-ass rune.

Yeah playing 1 first would be better, but it's not as good so I usually suggest 2 to hook people, then play 1 after, then replay 2 again ftw.
