That show was absolutely amazing, by the way. At the risk of embarrassing myself, that was the first and only cartoon that, at times, freaked me out enough to refuse to watch it in the dark and/or home alone.

Honestly, whilst Fred was highly disturbing, CtCD actually terrified me from day one... I remember watching the pilot episode on Cartoon Network when I was very little, I think it involved alien chickens or something. Towards the end, I remember it flashing back and forth between Courage (who was outside the house) and one of the alien chickens (I think maybe Eustace was transformed into one?) advancing slowly on Muriel who was backed into a corner, and it frightened the fucking life out of me - even more so than the time CN unexpectedly turned over to TNT (as it used to do at 9pm or so every night), and landed me slap bang in the middle of a Nightmare on Elmstreet trailer.

My childhood was plagued with fear and sleepless nights.
