Brawl honestly makes me hate life, only recently have I started to try to play the game again in a way to get better because I honestly don't even understand 90% of the dumb shit that goes on anymore. And I don't mean the battle system or overpowered characters. I missed apex last year too. My crew is in jersey though so we'll see where I am when summer rolls around.

People do money matches/sidebets yeah but it's never for a lot of money. I think the most I ever walked away with in profit out of a full day of money matching was like 80 bucks because no one knew who I was except for the people who would have beaten me anyway.

Idk, I think people MM just to play other people seriously (in an effort to prove a matchup ratio), or to try to procure a TV to play at. Those two $1 bills can sit there for a while x)

I think a small minority actually do it to make money (but that could just be my way of thinking about it), and they're usually the ones shouting.

At the time they were Empire arcadia's smash crew, Deadly Alliance. It consisted of the best players in NYC and a few players from OOC/S, roster changed over time and at some point (right after brawl came out actually) they just became another crew with no actual affiliation with empire aside from D1, who tends to represent in multiple games including but not limited to naruto, smash, and blazblue.

The only original members that still play frequently enough are wes, dire, and bum. Since brawl they merged with team supremacy which had the players malcolm (considered the best sonic in the country), ninjalink (all around one of the best players in the country, at one time was the best diddy but a player in my crew took that from him), Jash (best toon link in the country) and D1 (was a notable falco, d3, and mk for a long while. He's still very good but doesnt like playing brawl).

After brawl came out, or the better part of a year and a half the top placings in NYC were always bum, ninjalink, and d1 but since then the only players that frequently take top 3 are ninjalink and maybe jash (he's usually anywhere between 1st and 4th which is typically just out of the money) due to the fact that we share a tournament scene with jersey now and it's not uncommon for the best snake in the world to show up to our tournaments.

The single best player in NYC, Anti, is not a part of DA.
