Except black people have done that. Ever hear the phrase "That's mah nigga" or "your mah nigga." The point I'm saying is, if you just say "that person is acting like such a nigger" isn't going to offend me, and it shouldn't offend anyone on a forum. The same goes for "do it faggot" etc. Which is the original reason the question was even posed.

The social context of a forum is vastly different to social context elsewhere.

I don't get banned in real life. Not to mention the same goes in real life. I hear you say nigger to someone else, what the fuck do I care.

What i said meant, that it might not offend most people on a forum because the social context is different on the internet, particularly, there is less social ostracizing, far less (sans closed internet communities). Secondly, it might not offend you, but you can't be generalized, neither can anecdotes.

My original post said that the specific attempts to change the meanings of a word have never been sucessful. I assume your post was meant to refute that by saying that the word nigger has a different meaning within black communities, however, neither of us have shown that that wasn't always the case.

My post is to no one in particular, I'm just copy/pasting what I wrote on another forum. It seemed to be relevant to this discussion.

Gay people who say they're more "straight acting" than other gay people astound me. Straight acting... What? Really?

Unless you're pretending to be attracted to women, you're not straight acting. Being "masculine" isn't straight acting. It's being masculine. Being feminine isn't gay acting - it's being feminine!

I, personally, know way more effeminate straight guys than I know gay ones. Does that mean they're trying to pretend to be attracted to the same sex? No. They're just not the epitome of masculinity.

Straight and Gay (and Bisexual) are labels indicating what sex you're attracted to. Nothing else.

Stop using the ridiculous and demeaning labels superimposed upon sexualities by the ignorant majority.

Yeah, I never really liked that about the gay (male) community (lesbians have always been cool as shit). So contradictory. I mean really, everyone is different. I really hate that "straight-acting" thing too. Becoming someone else for the sake of doing some sort of pseudo-status jump is retarded. Shit, everything I do (no matter how weird or fucked up people may find it) is my current best attempt at expressing myself and living how I feel most comfortable. I own that shit hardcore. I don't try to be anyone other than a better version of myself, and I think that's important to life-satisfaction.

I am a victim of this shit. It's not funny. If you are lesbian act like a dyke so I know not to care about you.

I've never met them though! In my experience, you have the femmes and the dykes and they get along very well and more likely than not date eachother (recreating the dichotomy of masculine and feminine in their relationships.) Idk, I've never had the experience where they do more self-hating than what normally occurs between females~

I was straight acting in the gay bar last night, I kissed a girl. She pretty much raped me but that's besides the point.

In other news, I've found a new guildleve.

Granted, its genuinely difficult to actually insult me, I generally just respond to that sort of thing in a way that makes the offender as uncomfortable as possible. It makes the situation a lot more funny.

That said, I use the term "faggot" more than anyone I know, usually just to distinguish between homos like me, and homos that feel the need to do the hand-flippy nonsense and parade their lisp around like its going out of style. Not that their mannerisms are a bad thing- to each their own -but I tend to distance myself from those people.

Edit: Vuitton just looks like one of them, I don't know how faggoty he actually is.
I find it is amusing that you think I have limp wrists and a lisp and parade my sexuality around based on a photo where none of those things can be seen. The truth is I am fairly comfortable with myself as a person and I don't define myself as an individual based around my sexuality.

Nor do I worry about how masculine or not masculine I am. I've found it to be true that men who worry needlessly over how masculine or not they are and their sexual partners are, are very insecure with themselves and have a need to over compensate. These people are usually also young and newly gay, and appear to only see gay stereotypes and actively try to separate themselves from those, and after they grow up and mature they realize that most normal men are neither hyper-masculine or a walking gay stereotype.

I avoid gay mannerisms because I don't like actively promoting my sexuality, and I think they are silly. However, I also avoid trying to be hyper-masculine. I am normal and average in my behavior. I don't feel compelled to act gay or act hyper-masculine. All of the straight guys I know are the same way.

I don't "bro" it up like a douche bag from the Jersey Shore, and I don't bump fists when I am at the gym lifting weights. Neither do I lisp, have limp wrists, or wear lip gloss and glitter and drink vodka-crans at gay bars. I like double IPAs and burgers as much as anyone.

So, instead of saying I look like a "fag" and all that entails, just say you don't like pretty boys like me. Because then you're making a valid statement and expressing an opinion that has some value to it. Not everyone likes a pretty urban guy. Some prefer surfer guys with long hair and board shorts, and some like hipsters in skinny jeans, and some like overly tan "brahs" that fist pump and do jaeger shots. And for me? I like a wide variety of guys from pretty men to ruggedly handsome. I don't limit myself to one type of guy because guys can be attractive in many ways.

Did you read the other half of that sentence? There was a comma in there.

    hey

    hey

I love my IPAs and shit, but cranberry vodkas are my default drink in a gay bar. I've never seen a gay bar that serves anything on tap other than Millerish bullshit. don't knock the vodka cran, gay bars tend to make hard drinks triple-strong and cheap. nothing wrong with that.

of course I would never order a vodka cranberry anywhere else - g&t or bust - but at a gay bar, it's just easier to pick the easy drink. I've had gin and tonics at gay bars and they've been so strong I wanted to puke from one sip. although that might be myself being cheap and getting rail gin instead of hendricks or something...

edit: then again, I should clarify that I pretty much never go to gay bars. but when I do, vodka cran all the way. it's simple and goes down easy... much like myself.
