I love my IPAs and shit, but cranberry vodkas are my default drink in a gay bar. I've never seen a gay bar that serves anything on tap other than Millerish bullshit. don't knock the vodka cran, gay bars tend to make hard drinks triple-strong and cheap. nothing wrong with that.

of course I would never order a vodka cranberry anywhere else - g&t or bust - but at a gay bar, it's just easier to pick the easy drink. I've had gin and tonics at gay bars and they've been so strong I wanted to puke from one sip. although that might be myself being cheap and getting rail gin instead of hendricks or something...

edit: then again, I should clarify that I pretty much never go to gay bars. but when I do, vodka cran all the way. it's simple and goes down easy... much like myself.

Lucky you... in the UK we have a phrase called "the pink pound", which basically refers to gay bars and clubs ripping off gay people with high prices. The door fees and drink prices are always a fair bit higher than the "straight" bars here. And I won't even get started on London prices...

that sucks. prices for drinks in gay bars are about normal here, tend to be a bit on the cheap side, but more importantly they make them stiff as hell. "here's your vodka with a splash of cranberry, sir!" which makes ordering beer a huge ripoff in comparison.

On weekdays in Liverpool (cheapest city I've been in for gay scene) some of the bars do drinks called Vodbulls for £1, which is meant to be Vodka and Red Bull. But you can tell some of the bars water it down by using the cheap Vodka shit that's only 22% vol. So you're not actually saving money because you end up buying loads of them.

I'm surprised alcohol is expensive in the US too. In most of Europe it's really cheap. The UK government seem to think increasing alcohol tax by huge amounts every year will make people drink less. In reality it just makes the less well off spend a higher proportion of their money on it.

Here people tend to get pissed before they go out. Did me no favours last night however because I didn't get in the club for being too drunk and everywhere else (except a place I didn't want to go to) shut at 3 so I had an almost 2 hour wait for the train.

I remember this one gay club (Queen) in Paris was charging (after conversion) $20 for hella weak wells drinks, and this was back in 2004 before the economy crashed and the euro was worth double ours. Fuck that.
