If the cat is crawling around your leg while you try and feed it, it is just marking you as it's territory. It has glands around it's head that leave scent for other cats to "not go near this - it's mine". That's why cats bury their poop instinctively, so other cats don't smell it and know there is food around, also same reason why cats eat their own placentas when the babies are born. They are very territorial creatures, which is why cats are often jealous of newborn babies and will try to harm them if you don't show equal attention.

Personally I love all animals, but when it comes to dogs and cats, I prefer the most low maintenance animal, so I opt for a cat which are born toilet trained.

Also, photo of me, on the right, after the closing ceremonies of this year's B.C. Universities Model Parliament. The fellow on the left was the Speaker of the House and I was attending as the first ever Clerk of the House for UMP. As officers of the house we get to wear the judicial robes, which are fucking hot over a suit and under the house lights - definitely a tradition from the days before central heating. We're very lucky as we actually get to have our model parliament in the Parliament Buildings and sit in the actual chamber of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. This is quite an honour as tourists are not permitted onto the chamber floor any further than the Bar of the House at the end of the chamber where the Speaker's Procession enters. The PCC has a nice website setup for the legislature including lots of photos of the beautifully detailed interior, in both the chambers and the entire building. http://www.leg.bc.ca/index.htm#

Yeah, it's pretty nerdy to be in a fake parliament but it's a lot of fun for young political members and hacks, especially as it's about the only chance for members of opposing parties to meet each other outside of maybe being in the same PoliSci class. That and we all get to party for 4 nights straight and the last day in the house is a Joke Day where silly resolutions, like changing the GST (Goods and Services Tax) to be used and interpreted as Good Sex Tonight or "A Resolution to Protect Canada's Awesomeness by Appointing Chuck Norris Prime Minister for Life", that kind of thing.
