Is your family festive and cheery all day long? My family just wakes up early to open up gifts, then we go on with our day with a big dinner later on.

None taken, but I think the smaller/bigger guy with beards ratio is pretty even in this thread, and from ive seen elsewhere too.

As for me personally, im lazy, and I would have to shave twice a day to keep a clean face, instead of just trimming it up once on the weekends.

Laziness is always an acceptable excuse. Personally though, I wouldn't get away with it at my job. And doesn't it itch like a mother fuck? Whenever I've actually attempted to grow something of substance (like a beard, goatee, etc.) after a week or so the hair is so long and thick that it's itching the hell out of my face and I break down and shave.

When I was 10 pounds heavier I rocked a longish goatee (like 6 years ago) - when you don't have a really discernable chin-line anyway (cause of the extra weight), having facial hair keeps people from noticing as much fat on the face. I put on weight face-first, which sucks.

Dunno if this answers the question, but yeah.

Also something something society's standards of attractiveness something if you can't conform might as well explore something something.

I like the quality of the first picture, it's like it should be in a magazine. My dad owns pretty pricey cameras but he's more of a landscape/wedding photographer than a portrait photographer. Got any links to some sites that can help in setting up an area for portrait photography - the quality is amazingly amazing

Decent (10mp+) digital SLR camera with a decent lens (might scrape by with a point&shoot)
A flash of some sort that can be triggered remotely (radio slave, IR slave, etc)
A dim and large or dark-painted room (get away from white walls that bounce light everywhere)
A piece of neutral translucent white cloth/plastic/etc to diffuse the flash

top photo trick: very large, diffused light source (softbox)
bottom photo trick: backlight subject with the sun (overexpose for the shadowed face)

I consider her a good photographer but that top shot isn't quite her usual "style." Going to a school mostly filled with spoiled hollywood kids who tell their daddies they want to take pictures for a living right as they graduate highschool, I consider her my competition, which I unsnootily admit isn't too common around all these little kids that don't take things seriously, though I am about to graduate into the real world, so I have to take it seriously. I'd link to either of our portfolio web sites but I don't feel too comfortable with our business contact informations all over BGforums. PM if you wants~

Very nice infos, I have 3 of 4 of your "Realistic answer" requirements, 4th being we don't have a room that's entirely painted, we do however have a somewhat dim room with 1 painted wall that is dark blue as I live with people who are afraid of anything that's not white/cream walls .

I know the cameras in our house have more potential in them, time to milk them!
