    What's wrong? can't keep up? last i checked a standard pullup has no real world value, other than improving muscle strength. real world pullups (meaning I had to do a pullup to get ouf of a hole, or to climb on top of something) were not static dead hanging sam fisher bullshit.

    Don't get me wrong I see the value in doing text book, straight up and down pull ups, but when your using your back in the real world it's a tad bit different.

    I do exercises to get stronger. Why do crossfit people do them?

    If you wanna kip to knock a few more out when you're too fatigued to do them properly, go ahead, finish off that way.

    But training by kipping to start is ridiculous, high-rep psuedo-cardio bullshit.

    Do you know how to improve your Fran time? It isn't by doing more Fran. And kipping pullups will get you a slap tear with the quickness.

    ??? You realize that having more muscular strength will improve your ability to get out of a hole better than practicing a kipping pullup 100 times? And when the hell do you find yourself in a hole anyway? That isn't real-world.

    I honestly don't see how infinite metcon has much real-world benefit. For cops and firefighters, raw strength is more important. Lifting heavy and running sprints are going to do far more than any crossfit wod will.

    New multi-cam pattern, stuff is pretty nice, I wear the crye precision version, it's cut better, and built to last longer than the assembly line stuff the army is issuing. The pattern is amazing in afghanistan, the fact that i've been in 8 years and have had 8 different combat uniforms is fucking stupid though.

    A gun turret is a hole, a well with 100+ 80lbs jugs of home made explosives is a hole, a window into a qualat is a hole

    I read that article and he brings up some interesting points, however, i don't agree with his general idea. I do agree that focusing on certain aspects of fitness until you have made gains are great, strength, cardio, flexability, but circuit training (and he's right about that aspect of cross-fit,p90x,etc, their just glorified circuit training) has it's own benifets which he neglects to address.
    It's funnie because my "cross-fit" gym at home hosts more strength training seminars than it does cross-fit. I love lifting heavy, it fucking feels good, but god damn if i don't want to be able to lift medium over and over again.

    I'm actually lifting heavy now, to improve my strength and muscle mass, so don't think i'm "die hard cross-fit onry!". But i've seen more real world uses out of the gains i've gotten from glorified circuit training, than being able to squat 390lbs. I live a different life that most folks though, i'm in combat wearing 60+lbs of gear with an 10ish lbs. rifle. I fly away with a seal team or just a polish security team, you can add another 60+lbs of explosives to that in my 3-day bag. that's 130lbs. of shit on my 230, 6'2'' ass.

    Anyway, we could continue this discussion forever, but one thing i've figured out when it comes to strength training, endurance, diet, hell anything, the one piece of advice that you can't ever make someone take is fucking motivation. If i get motivated to do cross-fit, good on me, least i'm not sitting on the fucking couch. If CS get's motivated to rock his back once a week, good on him. Every mother fucker in the gym thinks he know's what the best thing for everyone else is, and it get's fucking annoying. the only universal that apply's to everyone is finding your god damn motivation. I don't knock anyone's workout, so long as their doing something.
    If you'll read back i was curious what CS's Fran time was, didn't say he should do it. I've said my piece on the matter, but i will thank you, that website that hosted MAJ wells article is actually pretty fucking tit's, i read two more stories while i was browsing around it.
