It's about god damned time is all I can say.

Some highlights

Cooper said Wednesday that the eyewitness identification procedures used in the case were unreliable, that no DNA supported the woman's story, that no other witness corroborated it, and that the woman contradicted herself.

However, Cooper said no charges will be brought against the accuser, saying she "may actually believe" the many different versions of the stories she has told. "We believe it is in the best interest of justice not to bring charges," he said.

The North Carolina State Bar charged Nifong with making misleading and inflammatory comments about the athletes under suspicion. It later added more serious offenses of withholding evidence from defense attorneys and lying to the court and bar investigators. He stands trial on those charges in June.

What a bunch of bullshit that whole case was, even if they weren't found guilty, it's still going to effect them the rest of their lives. Shit like this pisses me off.

There was so much evidence that pointed to the fact that they didn't rape her.

Yet, people just kept on insisting to drag the stupid case on. I don't think those guys deserved what happened to them (even though one of them looks like a complete douchebag).

First off, the case should have never gotten the national media attention that it did.

Secondly, she needs to be charged because you shouldn't be allowed to mess with people lives like that without consequence.

And lastly, I am sure that all of the guys involved will land nicely into cushy patronage jobs once they graduate.

I'm exaggerating here but:

dook = rich white northerners
Durham = shitty city, ghetto like and full of crime

the city residents aren't big fans of dook, who can blame em, and Nifong thought if he could win this, he'd be the king of durham and oppressed minorities everywhere by showing he could beat the man, nevermind that he had to lie, force, conjole and bullshit his way through

eventually enough people were like "ummm, this aint gonna fly" and shot his ambitions down

honestly, this is all on Nifong - people lie about crimes all the time and lie in generally, they should sue for slander if its a big deal - but Nifong's the one who decide that THIS case wasn't about the law, but that it was his chance to make it big

There are no winners in this case. The "victim" is mentally unstable and needs help...hence why AG Cooper is declining to press charges against her. The lacrosse team's reputation (and trust me, it was a well deserved reputation. They always had the rowdest tailgate, the loudest parties, and the cockiest attitudes on campus) finally bit them in the asses. Duke got unfairly stereotyped as a good ol boy university, then suffered even more as rogue faculty members hijacked this incident to push their own agendas. The city of Durham and the state of North Carolina had the underbelly of their legal systems put on display for the entire world to ridicule. The press lost the last shred of respect I and many people had for them due to undeserved attention and ignorant commentators spouting off without having a clue as to what the real situation was (I'm looking at you, Nancy Grace, you stupid cunt).

The sad thing about this is it's basically true, though the rich white yankee bit is definately a thing of the past (80% of the student body receives financial aid nowadays). The even sadder thing is that Duke contributes so much to Durham in terms of jobs, economic aid, volunteer work by the students, and it gets thrown out the window by one overzealous prosecutor.

However, I will say this about Nifong...he might not be legitmately right in the head. He was once considered one of the future stars for prosecutors, but after he went through chemo, he hasn't been the same since...some of the DAs in the state think the chemo screwed with his brain somehow, but that's just conjecture. Anyways, he's a snake in the grass, and will soon be disbarred and owe the three boys a shitton of money.

Sharpton, Jackson, and ever other person that rides the gravy "racism boat" would have to start apologizing.

3. The DA Mike Nifong should be instantly disbarred when the trial is over and without a law degree, I assume he loses his job. That fucker was 99% of this case's problem, along with a stupid accuser.

4. Duke University owes the Lacrosse team a giantic apology for cancelling all of the last season. Student Ethic Violations is one thing (however this is college remember), but they ran with the accusations just like everyone else.

It is just as much our fault as anyone else.

When they first have to take a position before all the evidence is in they have to plan based off two possibilities.

1) They are actually guilty.
a) If we run with this we will look good for doing our jobs.
b) If we use reason and wait for the evidence to come in we will look as though we were trying to protect a bunch of racist rapist. People will want our heads on a pike.

2) They are actually innocent.
a) If we run with this but they end up being innocent.. we can just say "oops" and say we were just trying to do our job. We won't be lynched by the public and media that bad.
