rofl, why would people get pissed about that :\ Anyone that would get pissed about that question (assuming because they can't answer it) isn't worth a grain of salt in that type of discussion to begin with lol.Originally Posted by Sigi

I've got irrefutable evidence for the possibility of existance too.Originally Posted by Iono
Since you can't prove god does not exist, there's a possibility he does. Not being able to prove non-existance is clearly irrefutable, therefore I've provided irrefutable evidence about the possibility of existance.
Simple. It makes them think. Either that, it implies that they should read a bit more about "Love thy neighbor" and not using a portion of Romans 9:13 as a justification for hatred. I always remark read Romans 9:20 -9:21.Originally Posted by Swampthing

But that's exactly my point though, if they even have to think about the answer to that, they don't belong in that conversation to begin with.
lol so if you ever ask someone that and they have to think about the answer, just laugh and walk away, you owned them to the point of no recovery lol.
My shield is named "Falsifiability", my sword is named "Occam's razor" and with them I deconstruct logical fallacies.
The problem that most people seem to have with evolution is that they see human beings as the end goal of evolution, not just a random happenstance.
As Devek said: "While I might think it odd if I picked up random paints, threw them at the wall, and ended up with an exact replica of the Mona Lisa that doesn't mean it didn't happen or that it was impossible." The more apt analogy would be if I took a bunch of paint and threw it at a canvass, then put that on display on a museum and people believed that the random nature of the paint was deliberate. If I play a game of 52 pick up, the chances of the cards falling in a certain pattern are amazingly low, but the pattern that they land in is just what they land in, there is no preset pattern, there is no order in that chaos.
Humans are only humans by chance. The fact that (somewhat) intelligent life developed on this planet to question its existence is irrelevant to how we got here. (Somewhat) Intelligent life could have developed from fish, lizards, ants, cats, etc instead of simians- I wonder if they would spend as much time being egocentric thinking that they were the end goal of the creation if the planet as we do.
If I could communicate 25% as well as you could I would be 25x more successful Septimus
I still take issue with saying we were here by chance. While it would be indeed chance that the first single cell organism either arrived or came into being on Earth I don't understand how one jumps to the conclusion it WAS by chance when we can't even observe a situation that would case a single cell organism to form in the first place.
What stops someone from saying that the first single cell organism was already programmed to evolve exactly like it did and when it did based off specific predetermined conditions?
In a way could that not be more scientific than saying it happened by chance due to the fact it is more falsifiable than saying it was total chance especially as we learn more and more about the mechanisms involved in DNA.
I am not really trying to argue or make a point.. I just don't really understand the difference between jumping to the conclusion that 'God did it!' or the conclusion that it was all chance.
I believe, but I may be reading what you said differently then how you you actually wanted to say it, the same thing. Why is it that we need two sides to this arguement? Why is it always Evolution VS Creationism? If you think about it, and how you yourself would design something. Would you want to constantly update your work every day, checking on errors and constantly reworking it. Or would you let it evolve on it's own, program it so it would constantly gather updates and adapt. I believe there is a God, and I believe that we did evolve. What gets people in an uproar are the bible thumpers that love to take things out of context and only go on the Bible. News flash, it's a book. Humans have touched this book, and humans love to fuck up things to fit our own ways when we can.Originally Posted by Devek
To the OP, it sounds like you just want to start an arguement with whomever is having this discussion instead of a debate. You want to embarass him instead of talking like 2 civil adults and exchanging ideas and views.
You should ask "Doesnt the inferior brain size of minorities prove evolutionary differences?" that'll really start some shit, and record it if you do it.
edit: if anyone thinks I believe what I just said then you need to be shot
y u such a racerist axil
WUT IM AN ERACERIST I DONT KNOW WHAT UR TALKBOOT
That would only be funny if Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson happened to be there also.
Oh, come on, seeing the guy squirm after he asked that would be funny regardless
you know guys, evolution has been proven....
if you dont belive me, go see a dog. (evolution of canis lupus for those who dont know)
on that same token it could be said God could be proven, go look at a tree, or go touch a lightning bolt.Originally Posted by DarktaruFM

we cant prove that god exists, but we cant disporve it, therefore theres a possiblity that he does.
but that doesnt mean that he does, which meants thats not science, but belief and belief = religion which =/= science until proven wrong
Of course he is! It's much more fun that way. Assuming the guy is trying to further his unpopular viewpoint and not just have a philosophical debate, like I asked earlier.Originally Posted by arlania
I was going to keep going even though I don't really have a particular position on this, but ppl have been arguing this shit for centuries, you'd think over that time people would've found more conclusive evidence for either side.

There's a very good reason for that, and more importantly it gives me an excuse to make a Hitchiker's Guide reference
