WORLD OF WARCRAFT COMIN TO MARS AND JUPITER BITCH!!!
It won't be long until people start complaining about Jupiter limitations.
I hear the lag out there is terrible.
Using dialup on Jupiter and getting only 3 fps, prz send help! Oh? It's my graphics card?

have no idea how they plan to pull that off, sounds to me it really only applies to Chinese companies they can physically shutdown or companis like Blizzard that have a very large public presence. FFXI might just fall under the radar cause it's not that popular over there.

but i think they do censor stuff at the ISP level. so if they have the major ISPs block the servers it could work.

a lot of people are missing the point

The new system will require all gamers to register using real names and identity card numbers to prove their age.
if implemented (which i don't really think it will for FFXI), that on it's own would make RMTs a lot easier to catch.

It's the last time I listen to Cid's advice about anything technical. He said it this system was "hawt"(his words not mine). Back to camping woot for their next refurbished PC sale.

The Chinese government has been blocking access to internet content that they disagree with for years, if they wanted to block FFXI they could do so easily.

the rules only applied for those mmo server that held in china or those mmo release in china. Like the WoW meantioned is the china-WoW instead of the NA/EU WoW, and I believed china-wow has been coded the 3hrs playing since long time ago.

so....ffxi won't affected, and rmt still long live

So in order to block FFXI we just have to have references to the dude blocking Tienanmen Square in '89? <_<

I've always wondered if you could just make lots and lots of anti Chinese Communist statements to the gillsellers (say, shout, tell whatever) and get them blocked by China.

5 bucks says the GM's would throw you in jail first though.

/tell gillseller so, 1 million gil for 40 grenades, 5 rocket launchers, and the architecture plans for the Chinese capital building. right?

If china blocked ffxi for failing to comly with their standards (which seems plausible), we'd just get korean/phillipino/whatever rmt.

The only nice thing would be the fact that the new rmt would not be nearly as knowlageable about the game as the current ones are and would probably wipe to every nm thus giving us a few months of peace.

As I read this, even if you're over 18, if the game you are playing doesn't have this in it, you're boned. Right? So, maybe a good thing.
