HD-DVD Players

Ok, I've searched around on the interweb and I'm having a lot of trouble finding information on good HD-DVD players. I just bought a new Sharp Aquos 1080P LCD and I wanted to get a HD-DVD player because the demo in the store made me want to poop myself. I have an xbox 360 and I know they offer the HD-DVD player for 199.99 but my question is if I put a regular DVD into it, will it upscale the DVD to 720P or 1080P? Or should I get a regular HD-DVD player that has the upscale technology and forget the Xbox 360 one?

Any suggestions/information would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the Xbox itself has upscalling in it thanks to a chipset called ANA or something. However, some say stand alone players are better. 1080p on xbox is only available through VGA atm AFAIK since (nearly?) no HDTV supports 1080p signal through Component. For the HDMI xbox you have to wait til the end of the month.

As far as upscalling DVDs however I don't even think we have a stand alone 1080p upscaller at the store I work at.

K cool. Thanks for the info. I'm new to the world of HD and HD-DVD so I'm trying to get as much info as possible. A guy I work with said the easier/cheaper way to go is just get a standard DVD player that HD upscale capabilities. Not sure what I should go with. Figured I'll probably just end up dropping the $$$ and getting a stand alone HD-DVD player if it's easier.
