Been there, done that.Originally Posted by Genosync
Warp to Safehold and take turns changing to COR, and 2 hour till RDM's get CS back.
Still gonna take 30 mins or so on average to and fro. We can't be arsed to wait 30 mins cooldown for each orb.
We have over 40 Bahamut kills under our belt with records of sub 18 mins nowadays, mostly without chainspelling Vrtra simply because he charms so fast that it can slip through stuns, Sleepga is negligable because we counter it with venom pots, etc...
And no, we do not bring a bucket load of extra RDM's to sit outside BC to wait for their turn at a shot at CS stun Vrtra.
16 ppl max = more profit per person.
Oh well, whatever works for you I guess.![]()
More profit per person maybe, but depending on the size of your LS that is leaving out other people who might like some gil. Whatever floats your boat after all, but personally I like to see more people having a chance to be involved in events.Originally Posted by Wop
Why would you use Venom potion over poison potion??Originally Posted by wop

Why the fuck would you sub DRK if you don't intend to use stun?Originally Posted by Ashira
Because you can still generate a crapton more hate than /WAR with just Bind, Sleep, Kurayami, Hojo, and randomly tossing spells like ABS-MND or Poison.
Would Nin/Pld work instead for Flash & Sentinel in this fight?
I'm no Nin or anything, so feel free to just say NO.
Yes.Originally Posted by Garret

NIN/DRK can cast ABS spells, sleep, bind, drain, etc, as well as the standard enfeebles from NIN main, as well as LR and SE if you were so inclined.
NIN/PLD can only cast Flash, minimal cures (which cost more MP to use and therefore can be used less frequently) and NIN enfeebles from main.
It just comes down to the fact that NIN/DRK has more spells available to them that can be casted onto the mob, while NIN/PLD gets hate from just flash and NIN enfeebles.
Because they're a lot cheaper for some reason.Originally Posted by Ddong

When did people start thinking NIN/DRK was -only- for the Stun?Originally Posted by Rammses
Stun is the highest hate, yes, but all the other spells (Sleep, Bind, Kura, Hojo, Abs-, Drain if you must I guess) being spammed will still be better hate control than NIN/WAR+Kura+Hojo with Provoke every 30 seconds. And they're all relatively fast casting spells and all offensive. If you want to argue, NIN/RDM could possibly be quite comparable spamming Dispel in addition to Sleep, Bind, etc if you're in a fight you can't use Stun in, but you do not have any hate spike abilities like Souleater can provide.
In any case, I guess he wasn't /DRK and I was confusing it with an Ouryu fight we did.
EDIT: But he was still solo tank. Though he also told me it wasn't a terror thing, it was a Firaga/Mega Flare combo that killed him. Though he'll probably correct me again to tell me it was Giga Flare or something. Maybe both of us WHMs were Terrored or dead or something, I don't remember anymore, nor do I care because my brain feels like it's going to explode.
I hate migraines. :/
NIN/DRK is still stronger hate than NIN/WAR without Stun. But NIN/WAR is the way to go if you are going to NIN tank Bahamut. Just be prepared with a nice magic/HP set, enmity set (+37 - 40) and def/vit/dmg down set and it's easy. 2X merman's rings and merman's earrings, resentment cape, Osode + Suzaku's sune-ate, 1.4 - 1.5K HP and MDB in the other slots is enough to make megaflare and gigaflare non-factors.
And as has been said, Vrtra needs to die fast. If charm is giving you problems, you can possibly have your weakest BLM blow ES on Gravity and have the rest of your BLMs do the usual ES - Burst II -> Thundaga III -> Thunder IV routine or whatever from max cast range, with Stuns in between. CS - Stun really shouldn't be required.
I don't know... If I had to come Ninja to tank this fight I'd take Nin/Rdm over Nin/Drk...
Same Spells to Spam
Fast Cast
MDB Trait
More Mp...
But Really I'll Stick to Pld/Nin, I just feel its a Stronger Choice for this Fight
I'm not saying Nin/Pld is better than Nin/Drk in general, I realize Drk provides an assortment of hate tools.
However, I would say if you can't make use of stun, like in Bahamut because of resists, then that severely cripples the use of the sub since you cut out the main hate tool it provides.
My question would be is can Nin/Pld beat Nin/War for HNM use? It seems somewhat accepted that Nin/Drk is great, which is certainly based around Stun in large part. /Pld offers a similar hate level spell, i.e. flash, which is just as subject to haste/fast cast/etc, Sentinel also provides a hate boost to actions while in use as well as providing good temporary phys. resists.
It is obviously not a DD oriented sub, which war is, but it does offer decent hate potential as well.
I don't think you would have enough Spells to really turn up the Hate, You don't have the Mp for Cures, so your basicly Trading Stun, Bind, Sleep, Blind.... for Flash...
That's my thought. I'd like to have that guy who said that NIN/PLD would be better and said "Why the fuck would you bring NIN/DRK when you can't stun" to weigh in with his opinions.Originally Posted by Frodorn

Problem with NIN/PLD would be lack of MP for curing. NIN/DRK usually operates on 90 - 140 MP, which is more than enough to spam spells like Stun and Bind, with Refresh on you.
NIN/WAR is pretty much relegated to fights that require significant flesh tanking or stability, like Bahamut, Prudence, maybe Byakko, or stuff that is DD tanked. Everywhere else, even on stuff that builds a stun resist, /DRK is generally better. Bind -> Sleep -> Kurayami -> Hojo, plus throw in another spell of choice since you are saving 25 MP not casting Stun, is still very strong hate.
With Aegis, who you have tank Bahamut Round 2 is kind of a no-brainer. Without Aegis, though? I think people are underestimating the stability of NIN/WAR - it's a complete rock when it wants to be, and having a strong enmity set to keep on when things are smooth will have you only losing hate to a stun and dispel spamming RDM if the fight goes like 50 minutes. Not so sure it's really that much of a step down from non-Aegis PLD/NIN if done right.
Just go with whoever you are most comfortable with, and most importantly, who will put the most preparation in. It really is an easy fight that you can take at your own pace, if everyone keeps cool and your BLMs are strong.
