    I want to stop smoking...

So I started looking at products and doing searches for reviews. It seems like nicocure is on #1 on every website that google pulls up. With a lot of "user reviews" I am skeptical because I have seen shit like this where its too good to be true and usually its just good advertising by the Nicocure company to team up with google.

Has anyone here even heard of Nicocure? Anyone know any independent unbiased websites that actually allow real user reviews of smoking aids?

    Thanks.

Have you tried just not smoking? Or instead of reaching for a cigarette, reaching for a piece of gum? Do you really need these supplements to help you stop?

I smoked a pack of Newport 100's a day for over a year, and the regulars too not the lights. A few months after I had been smoking for a year I decided that while I had plenty of reason to smoke, it wasn't the actual cigarette itself that I needed or simply wanted. I was just filling time when my hands were free, enjoying the taste (and they tasted wonderfullllll), or relieving an emotional issue by focusing on something else and calming my nerves. Smoking filled all of those voids, and it was fun, and I was around other people who smoked with me.

But I came to feel in my heart that I wanted to stop, so I tried. I was a firm believer in mind over matter so I flexed my willpower whenever I wanted a cigarette. That didn't always work, but when it came down to it, I went from a pack a day to only a couple a day, and packs were lasting me a week or sometimes two. The cigarettes got stale and I would end up throwing the pack away. But that was a dumb waste of money (like spending money on cigarettes in the first place, I know), so I stopped buying for myself, and when I needed one to help me relax because I had made up my mind that only a cigarette could, I would offer someone a dollar to have one of theirs.

In the end it took about 4-6 months until I was capable of flexing my willpower to the degree that when I really needed to calm my nerves, relax, or what have you, I wouldn't even entertain the notion of using a cigarette as the end to my means.

I still chew a lot of gum now, I actually chew about a pack or sometimes less per day. But that is because I need to be doing something during the moments where I have nothing to busy my hands. So instead of doing that with a cigarette, I put a piece of gum in my mouth.

I am sure that this won't work for everyone, but it is worth trying, if for no other reason than those nicotine patches and nicotine gum can be even more expensive than smoking is lol...

My dad stopped smoking a few years back, he put some patches on and just suffered through it. He said it was pretty hard, and it took a good 4 months or so until he didn't have the craving anymore, but the patches helped him stay off it.

I quit smoking cold turkey 18 months ago after smoking 1-2 packs a day for 13 years. You just have to want to do it and be strong. Decide to do it and do it. Sure its difficult, but so is life.... deal with it.

Sorry, but telling someone to "deal with it" is the fastest way to be ignored (and hated for that matter).

My Mom smoked for a long time, she quit by chewing gum and biting on straws.

My Dad quit by having a heart attack. I don't advise this one.

My dad just quit, he used Zyban. It was pretty effective, he wasn't unpleasant to be around at all. He had been smoking 2-3 packs a day for 30 years.

it really was chain smoking...we're talking 3-4 cigarettes per hour during car trips.

Luckily for him (and me) he has some of the best genes possible.

Listen... not trying to be a prick or anything, but any doctor will tell you the same thing. Anyone who is trying to quit a habit and is "babied" along the way will either fall victim to another habit or will fall back on their old habit.

Smoking is as much of a habit as eating is. If a doctor told someone who is overweight "You need to curb your eating and lose some weight or you are going to have a heart attack" you have 2 choices. Listen to the doctor, or continue the way you are and risk death. Its the same with smoking. You need to be as stubborn as you are to continue smoking, fully knowing the health consequences, to quit. Don't baby yourself and be hard on yourself and you will be able to quit.

Oh you're absolutely right. But notice how you avoided the phrase "deal with it," or "get over it," in this post, and that makes all the difference in the world

Sorry I was brought up with tough love. Any time I told my mom that I was craving a smoke, she would tell me to "Shut up" and "Stop being a pussy". I love my mom lol.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried cold turkey, you guys don't start shaking and eyes hurting/tearing? I just want any edge I can get to help with the symptoms that I am probably imagining in the first place. Its hard for me just to say there not there, i dont know how to explain it. It just sucks.

So no one knows anything about nicocure?

Yeah, the patches my dad used were called nicoderm I believe.. they were effective, but he still felt like they weren't enough (especially when he moved on to the 2nd stage which has less nicotine)... you just have to want to do it like others have said, you can control the craving... it's whether you actually 100% fully commit yourself to it or not, because if you're not 100% serious about it, you'll just fall back to the cigarettes.

I used chantix when I quit. First week cut me from about 15 a day to 5. At the second week I just stopped smoking, and after about 3+ weeks, wasn't taking the pill anymore. Been smoke free for a month now and outside of the occasional urge which goes away after a minute or two, i've been fine.

I smoked Cigars every Saturday night for awhile last semester. I never got addicted though, it was a social thing, we just sat at the bell tower on campus at night and just smoked/talked. It was pretty kewl too because we'd always see people coming back from Frat Row all drunk, even had some chick flash us lol.

But ya, it just left a bad taste in my mouth for 2 days afterward and didn't do anything besides that. No light headedness, no relaxation, just fun lol. Cigar + Sobe Orange Carrot Elixir, ftw.
