Wasn't my car but I was driving in a 5ton going down a gravel highway at 90kph(redline) and throttle got stuck on when we were coming into town ; ;
We had to put the emergency brake on, put it in Neutral and shut the truck off to stop
I was all ready to tuck n' roll too lol
My '87 caprice finally stopped running last year ;_; RIP
This is a 1976 Chevelle Malibu Classic.

My parents bought this car new shortly after they were married. The odometer has rolled over 5 times now, and is sitting somewhere around 30K miles, so around 530K miles on the car. I drove it when I was going to UAB for about 4 years. It has had 3 transmissions and one motor put into it, the current motor is on its second set of cylinder heads. Those only had to be replaced because my mother let it get hot and one of them cracked. Never been wrecked. I stopped driving it when I bought my Mustang 3 years ago and it has sat where it is. Funny thing is I can charge the battery and it will crank up as soon as the fuel hits the plugs, normally before the starter ever spins the motor a whole round.

This is my 1992 Toyota Celica. As of today, it has around 160,000 miles on it.
It hasn't been all roses though, For the last year, I worked in pizza delivery (my last day is tomorrow, thank God.) and it really puts a lot of unneeded wear and tear on the car. In the year of driving this thing for the boss around town, the tires have gone out and been replaced, brake pads/shoes have worn out and gotten replaced, but the real San Francisco treat is this:
A few months ago, my engine would stutter and surge when idling. At first I thought "Well shit, I better look at this." I couldn't find anything on my own, so I asked other people who have owned Celicas. One guy says it's the Mass Airflow Sensor. Now, the other kicker is that the engine in this car is crammed into one tiny space. Kinda like the entirety of the Chinese population, you know? So it was tough. And no repair manual. I had no idea where the MAF sensor was or what it even looked like. My dad, who helped me work on it. Dismissed that idea, and we went about replacing everything else imaginable on the car. In the end, we take it to a shop and they fix it. What was it? The MAF sensor. How much did it cost? A tiny little electronic device about the size of my thumb, it cost 400 dollars. (Ordering from Toyota. ><)
While we wrestled with this MAF problem, the front axles got fucked up. The Constant Velocity on the front left tore open and needed to be replaced. Also, both front wheel bearings are shot. I replaced the left front, but the right front still needs it. And that SHOULD be the last thing that needs fixing for a while. I really wanna get rid of that annoying "thump" that sounds off whenever I make a right turn.
But for the most part, I've always liked Hondas and Toyotas. They're pretty reliable. But anyway, moral of my story is: Don't work in Pizza delivery joints. The tips and stuff won't even cover the cost of whatever WILL happen to your car.

85.5 Porsche 944
Headgasket out right now, fixing that after the semester is over. Have a 2000 Ford Explorer now too to drive daily.
I've got a couple of 1973 VW Super Beetles; one is pretty much just for parts now though. I've had them since my 16th birthday but I think I'm going to sell both of them since I really don't have time to enjoy them with working full time. :/
I have a 98 Taurus that is only 10k behind you :O
I had an old 93 Camry, over 200k. Barely any trouble. My current car is another 97 (i think) camry, it's hit over 180k without problems as well.
1995 civic and the speedo/odo stopped workeing about a year ago at 196,000 miles. Id gauge it at around 230,000 on it now. Still has yet to ever touch a mechanic shop other than regular scheduled maitenance.
I haev a 86 944 XD love that car... wish it was turbo ; ;Originally Posted by Awoir
My father gave me his 1991 Toyota Pickup when someone ran over my '91 Geo Prizm. It had 134k miles on it. It was a beast, it's only a 1/2 ton pickup and I was putting in a ton of bricks in it. Blew headgasket twice, 3rd time I sold it for 3k. Had 194k miles on it when I sold it, body had rust only in the wheel well, and the gate in the back would get stuck sometimes. Last I saw it was @ home depot, same guy had it. He never removed my Yankees sticker.
Had an 87 Saab 900 with 300k on it. Had only ever had oil changes and regular maintenance. Thing still ran like new.
My dad had a 66 Suburban with 500k+ miles on it. Had a painting on the glovebox that someone did at Woodstock(the original). Was a great truck til the engine caught on fire...
This is how I roll, yo.
lol bagel that's the coolest thing I've ever seen
