Since "upgrading" to it, I've found that it does nothing but be extremely laggy and slow at any time. Shit takes forever to open, and closes equally as slow. Does this happen to anyone else?

Happened to my friend many times. Also has a wierd copy/paste bug where each time he copy/pastes a convo, an extra line break is added before any of his text.
Switched (back) to Trillian after an hour. Hasn't gone back to AIM 6 since.
aim has sucked since they started adding all these "features" which came with the price of expanding ad's with sound.... total fucking pain in the ass lol
yeah, you can still download 5.9 here: http://www.aim.com/get_aim/win/other_win.adp
i don't really like that client either though...
I needed an alternate alternate aim client that wasnt aim and wasnt trillian, I tried new gaim and it works really well with a little tweaking, Im not ditching my pretty trill pro 3 but I am going to keep gaim around.
Gaim has been the shit for years. Open source ftw.Originally Posted by Sonomaa

Hmm anytime I close Gaim it closes completely, is there anyway to minimize to system tray so it doesn't hog a space on the start bar? I might have missed it in the options but I didn't see it anywhere.
I havn't upgraded my aim since I saw the new ones. I hate expressions and I think seeing your own buddy icon in the bottom corner is completely shitarded, with all that extra gray space at the side. 5.2 or whatever ftw.
5.9 with noads ftw
Aim Lite
It doesn't do much, but it does all the important things: IM, logs IMs, Away messages, minimize when clicking the X, sort names (with a small plug in).
Went back to AIM 5.9... much better.
I have mine setup like this, I'll post a howto when I get into work or somethin.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

Glad I never switched to begin with.
Gaim got too annoying so I uninstalled and went back to AIM6. I'll probably try aim 5.9 again.
AIM6 would be nicer if it wasn't so damned laggy, I don't know why they insist on sacrificing stability for eye candy.
They got that idea from Windows Vista.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

how much space and cpu/memory usage does trillian take up compared to Aim/aim6/msn?
I havent used MSN in a while because of how laggy aim6 is, but i cant get 5.9 with tabbed windows working anymore on vista... worked at first but then it broke. Thinking about going to trillian if its better than having aim and msn open, or if its less than aim6 completely.
Trillian is currently taking up 8MB of memory with AIM, MSN, and ICQ loaded, compared to Ventrilo's 8MB, WMP's 7MB when paused, and FFXI's 120MB when minimized in Tavnazia.
trillian was taking up too close to what aim6 was taking up for me. Im using AimLite right now, and its amzing. Is there a way to change font colors though? maybe through themese? I havent checked into it yet but so far AimLite is my new favorite. Havent given gaim a try yet cause im afraid of the space it might take up as well.

Hell, even Notepad is taking 8MB. What's wrong with my PC? =(
