Bill Maher show this weekend, Guest Al Sharpton

So he came back from his vacation to do a show regarding the Don Imus scandal, and brought Al Sharpton on as a guest.

    KICK ASS.

Couldn't ask for anything better than a candid conversation on the matter with a host / interviewer that isn't worried about being PC. Even though it kindof only grazed the gray area and Al Sharpton continued with a bit of rhetoric, I thought it was an excellent conversation especially regarding points of free speech, Maher touching areas no politician would touch.

I know this will end up as a continuation of the other thread that got locked so I just want to say let's try to stick to the topic in regards to American social policy and standards and opinions on them regarding this issue and "racism" vs. free speech.

Among the other good points brought up is that these girls wouldn't have even known about the Don Imus remarks if the media didn't blow it up the way it did.

Btw, did anyone watch the 60 Minutes this Sunday where they were supposed to do a thing about Imus past borderline racial / sexist remarks?

A few times while Bill Maher was talking with Al Sharpton, it seemed like Bill Maher was gonna sulk away, and somewhat backtracked on his answers. Though, I guess he's also somewhat used to people at least chuckling at his remarks and Sharpton just looked sort of pissed at the whole conversation. I think that should happen more often (not specifically with regards to Al Sharpton, but people shouldn't be pussies when asking questions).

Honestly, the reason I like Bill Maher is that he doesn't make any attempt to be politically correct whatsoever. Also, I like the fact that someone without a left-leaning bias can actually somewhat regularly watch the show and actually see someone intelligent backing up the positions of the other side of a given issue. Obviously, this doesn't mean the show is remotely balanced on issues, but he doesn't get some incoherent conservative to be the weekly "poster boy" for the right, like many other shows with a similar format do (on both sides).

Also, Dana Carvey was definitely an awesome guest and I'd love to see him back (though, he has the ADD equivalent of Robin Williams on that show)

lol ya I thought the same thing. It was almost just like when Robin was on.

But ya Al Sharpton was really sober regarding the issue, and I have to give props to Bill Maher for saying some of the things he did say. Good points were brought up on both sides.

And much respect to Bill for not allowing his right wing guests to be boo'd. That takes alot of balls to tell your supportive audience to just shut the fuck up and listen.

The only problem is that the right wingers either ALWAYS say the SAME EXACT THING, near verbatim as far as their arguments regarding the war.

I'm a little impressed that despite the public outcry they refuse to back down, but very saddened that despite all of the common sense and evidence before them they refuse to see what is doing more harm than good and just want a 5th chance to make it right.

Ya they put the new ones up on the following Monday. But I think they always have at least the last 5 up.

I can't remember which category though.

The category is Series from the list (unless HBO on Demand is different depending on the provider)
