Anyway, DB was formed when Anime-Heaven's Naruto subbing group left due to conflicts with the management right? I've never been part of the A-H community though, so I don't know exactly how long experience they had in the group before they left to form DB. I'm not defending them, just saying that they might have more experience than most people know.

QFT. Sub groups known as something now do not mean that they have always been that. (In this case with DB/A-H) .. but yes, Lunaranime did an exceptional job. I downloaded all of mine from their IRC channel on Rizon, like most others did unless they decided not to learn how to use the bots. Either way, shitting on a group because they do the "shitty" anime is kinda wonky in my opinion. Who knows though, really. If they actually sub it until the two series end (which would be amazing as they seem to be able to go on forever..*coughShitPiececough* it would be an awesome thing.

On another note, I apologize. When I stated you might not be able to work your BT, or "check the firewall", I was out of line. Just like Bartylby said though, it just depends on when you download the episodes. When I download upon release, I generally get 350-450ish KB/s with around 40kb/s upload. That's not extremely fast by any means, but it's better than what I used to download before I figured out how my router and everything worked. I'm sure if I went back now and tried to download episode.. 132 of Naruto for example, I'd get bad download speed as there wouldn't be nearly as many seeders as the day/weekend it was released.

Ah well, rambling. Closing thought is this: Love DB or hate 'em. If you want fast, subbed Bleach/Naruto of quality, then there you go. If you hate both series, then why post in this topic? Stop getting your panties in a wad over some of their lame, "childish" jokes and get over it.

Not all torrent go at 100k/sec. You will get speed like this for the most popular one on certain website, but it's not always the case.

i don't deny that but this conversation is about dattebayo, and the speed hasn't dissappointed me yet.

i used to watch naruto on youtube but once I downloaded a single episode i never did again, youtube has increased there quality but its still not the same, i dont have any issues downloading with bittorent my download rate ranges from 100k/s to 800k/s on a cable modem through a router, although getting past 400k/s does not happen often < <

That was just a joke to fool the Narutards who didn't know that there was no episode that week. Anyone that is taking their shit seriously, and getting their panties in a bunch over it, are just doing what their jokes were intended for.

Also, Naruto wasn't licensed when DB started fan subbing. DB's fansubs played a part in the distribution of Naruto, thus increasing its popularity and exposure outside of Japan. Sure, you can say if they didn't do it, someone else would have; but they did do it- so fast and well that the other dozen Naruto fansub groups couldn't keep up and just gave up. They even sub in other languages besides english, despite how little they're downloaded.

As for them giving shit to YouTube, lol, who cares.

from my limited experience most fansubbers are fairly arrogant. and how is having a complete or incomplete series relevant? does another group that has done a pair of 26 episodes series give them more relevance? DB has done a lot more than 52 episodes, what does completion have to do with anything?

whether you like their source material or not, their quality and speed is well above average, which is pretty much the most important thing.

I dunno which subbers youve seen, but the ones that have been around awhile are not arrogant, it's the last thing they are. Just the ones Elcura mentioned (they are many more) are outstanding groups, not only do they do quality work but they are constintly working with the common fan, any idea some random guy has, theyll consider it, they work to appease the audience.

This Dattebayo group is coming off like Sony Jr, they know theyre the 'only' group that does these series, so they can get away with whatever they want. They really come off as scum and they are abusing what they have, and thats not the reason why fansubbing was created for.

Taking this far too seriously. 99% of fansub viewers are lurkers who will just download without any care for the 'politics' behind the groups. I can see Elmer's views because he partakes in translating- but if you're just a viewer, who cares? DB isn't profiting from this.

They could charge for subs if they wanted to.. it's a choice though if you choose to continue to use their subs. The world can't be free unfortuantely. As an FYI.. look at anybody that charges money.. there are always hate sites to people that charge money.. That is a fact of life.

If they don't want their subs leaked.. respect them and don't leak the subs.. go leak someone else's subs.

Well the subbing world IS free. You make it sound like I'm niave beyond help, I know everything isn't free, but you can't expect to seriously pay for anything made by a fan for a fan? I wouldn't pay to read fanfics and I wouldn't pay to see pictures drawn of a character. Like I wouldn't expect to pay for something someone wants to do because he likes the subject.

I've been with a manga scanslation team (clean-up and a little proofreading) and it's a lot of hard work, but I enjoyed doing it because I loved the manga I was working on and the community of people I did it for.

The history of the fansubbing community has something to do with it as well, at least for me.

Fansubs used to be freely distributed on VHS, often times through the mail and at some expense to the creator. Technology back then was a lot different as well and required much more than just a laptop. Still, the community was pretty tight-knit and always looked down on people capitalizing off anime. It was pretty well understood that nobody deserved money, despite their hard work, since everyone was in it to promote their favorite series.

Now a bargain bin PC and some pirated software can get you from Raw to Avi with *comparitively* minimal effort. So when I see a group that's like "breathe and ur banned fuckfaces! we pwn yoo! etc" I tend to show them little respect. Yes, they sub fast, yes they sub high-quality, but it's no reason to think you're a big shot and to crap on the fans that put you there. Especially with the Professional Subbing they have begun to offer, they can't deny Naruto/Bleach fans have brought them success. However, I will also afford them that while the fansub community degrades, so do the fans, and they probably put up with an inordinate amount of BS from the people in their IRC channel.

I am probably too harsh when talking about Dattebayo, but I just feel the fansub community as a whole needs less powertripping and less feuding(lol) between the groups. They're all working towards the same goal, but internet power and popularity keeps clouding their vision.

Read the DB feedback fourms they put up every few months to get an idea of the feedback they recieve and thier opinions. They put up with tons of crap because the people that watch anime have moved from people who love it for what it is, and people who watch it because its the cool thing to do.

That tells me that they're also doing it because it is the cool thing to do and it gets them recognized and gets them attention. Even if the people annoy the shit out of you it's easy to get around that if you love the series and what you do, I mean the fans are related to the mentality surrounding the series if it bother them so much why keep doing it? If you can't deal with the people properly then stop putting yourself in a position that gets you in that situation.

Alas, since Naruto and Bleach are the shit (in more ways then one) people are doing the work without even liking the product, and with no pay I can get why they are so grumpy. Oh well, I couldn't care less about their well being as I don't like either anime or the group(s) subbing them.
