This almost sounds like an insult to people who are in mourning, but I guess it's true. I mean honestly, I would be irrational if someone I loved was killed at the hands of somebody else. If someone were in my face trying to bring rationale while in this state, I would probably choke the life out of them.

Really, at the point that he went and shot a shitload of people because of HIS pain, I lost all remorse for this person.

You're right, mourning the dead doesn't solve the problem at hand here...but how about, it's how normal, sane people deal and you should let them be? There's a time and a place for logic and understanding, but I think it's a little too soon to be playing psychiatrist, especially in this thread.
you're taking it the wrong way, i was only trying to respond to keno's reply.

i neither asked for sympathy for the shooter, nor said anything about mourning's productivity, nor asked anyone to stop mourning.

if anything, if you're going to mourn, mourn for the loss of the shooter's life, and his family's loss (nobody said anything about them).

i guess the whole "good riddance" is our focus on finding someone to blame, and its easy to blame the one holding the gun.

Well, I guess I take back part of what I said in my post to you...but then I read the stupid shit you post below it saying to mourn for the shooter's life. At this point, why the fuck would anyone (besides his parents) do that? He was a sick fuck. People did reach out to him. He didn't respond. Are you serious?

Perhaps Nirokun is coming off in a negative way, but he is making some points that can be difficult to come to terms with. Maybe think of it this way...

Mourn for the shooter because of what his life had become. Mourn not necessarily that his life has ended, but that his life had become so twisted and hopeless that he was obsessed with death, destruction and horrific imagery. Don't forget that many innocent lives were lost, but don't forget that our society inadvertently produced a tragic, psychotic killer that was driven to take those lives from us. One person who suffered silently effectively became dozens of families who will suffer openly for years to come.

If you look at some of the student reactions, there were several that said, "When I heard about the shooting I was like, 'Omg I bet it was Cho!'" The fact that these kinds of people exist is something to mourn; that across the country there are many people who are ostracized and ignored to the point where they lose their humanity and become emotionless monsters. Unfortunately, the most likely reaction I see in the wake of this tragedy is people like this will be targeted and beat up rather than invited to a party. It's always easier to be like, "That emo fag doesn't deserve friends" than to be like, "Hey, come hang out and have a beer!"

Despite everything, sometimes there's just nothing you can do. In this particular case the culprit apparently had all sorts of mental problems, so maybe it was inevitable. In the end, the best we can do as individuals is treat those around us with respect.

Few things to say at the moment.

    A. Fuck you Syn. I hope someone bans your ass off this forum and your whole IP range. Get the fuck out, you insensitive fucking bastard. I know people die in the line of service. It's a tradegy every day it happens. I pray for them every day. You expect threats on your life when you're out there in the middle of no where, but you don't expect someone to rush in your fucking classroom and shoot everyone. Multiple times. Not just once, but over, and over again. Each person that was shot had at least three gunshot wounds, at least from what I'm hearing. That's not attempt to cause serious harm to someone--that's to kill them. To kill defenseless people. In their school, a place of learning and of safety. I'm scared to even walk alone anymore, and I'm a pretty big and strong dude, no offense. This is a small town atmosphere--it's not like we're in the middle of some city like New York, or even the crappy part of Richmond where VCU is in our state. You don't expect this kind of a thing to happen. It's awful, it is a world class tragedy, and you need to shut the fuck up and learn that we go by that building every day(if we actually go to class), use that building for classes(I have had two classes in Norris before), people fucking LIVE in West AJ+East AJ, AND WE HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE FACT THIS HAPPENED RIGHT WHERE WE ARE.

So excuse me for being pissed off. I think I have a perfectly good excuse.

    B. You guys that go to school here, get in touch with me. Seriously, I'd like to meet you and talk to you and make sure everything's ok, and I don't want you guys to be alone if you are. I had a really bad episode today where I busted into tears because I wanted my best friend to come up and be with me and she told me she already tried to get off work and she couldn't come. I kicked the side of the elevator in Kent Square and almost hurled my phone at the floor too. Seriously, give me a call, 757-535-1692. Oh, and Syn, if you wanna fucking talk about this shit and want an earful from me, I'll fucking give you one. Get the fuck off our forums.

PS: Elmer, I respected you for your skill as an amazing player with your Puppetmaster tricks and videos that you put out... especially that Taru AA fight. Now I respect you for a whole lot more. Also, thanks for the laugh with the 'allowed to care' calculation. Showed it to a few engineers and they laughed too. Kinda lightened the mood a bit without being insensitive.

PPS: Trixi, thanks for the awful comment about this not being a world class tragedy. Just wanted to make sure you realized what actually happened--if not, try turning on CNN or MSNBC or something, I hear they know a lot about what goes on in the world.

Ninja Edit: Thanks for the thoughts, prayers, wishes, whatever you're doing. I love you guys, even if you really hate how annoying and stubborn I can be.

You know Genosync, you really need to calm down. While you have all the rights in the world to be upset, so do other people to have the right to their own ideas and personalities, which expressions are most explicitly garenteed on the internet where freedom of speech is at its naked form. If you are easily offended by criticism whether it's constructive or not, you should avoid the internet for your own good.

It's not fathomable to me how some of the people on this forum lack compassion, or, even simpler yet, decency toward those who are dealing with this loss right now. My heart goes out to you, and I'm usually around to lend an ear if someone needs it - pm or aim me.

    the dad commited suicide.

Meanwhile, the father of Virginia Tech shooter Cho Seung-hui reportedly committed suicide. Radio Korea, a broadcaster for Korean expatriates in Los Angeles, said rumors spread in Virginia’s Korean community that the killer’s father slashed a main artery with a knife after learning that his son was identified as the gunman in the shooting massacre. The shooter’s mother also tried to kill herself but failed and is in critical condition, the broadcaster added.

LOL, can the kid post without you or another fucking moron telling him to calm down? Like I said, you're not there at VT, you have no fucking clue what's going through his head. Let's give these guys the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

And why are people fucking criticizing anything to do with this thread? Really. shame on you. If I were a mod I would have banned your ass for your insensitivity and stubborness.

No one has guaranteed freedom of speech on this board you ignorant ass. This isn't America, this is webspace owned by someone who sets their own rules of moderation and censorship.

I could be ostracized and ignored forever and never turn into a monster.

Your statement makes it sound like he couldn't help being what he was due to society... when in reality, his brain was fucked. It didn't function properly... society had nothing to do with this, otherwise there'd be a lot more social misfits driven to monstrous acts like this.

It was a combination. You THINK that is who you would handle being ostracized your entire life. When everything about life is showen to us in the media as revolving around your friends and money, and you have neither it wears on you. Couple that with this kid having a disorder and it's tossing lit matches at a gas can. A person can only take so much, dont think otherwise. Everyone has a breaking point eventually, same reasoning in interrogations.

To me it just sounds like his classmates were trying to befriend him so he didnt shoot them up. That's a little different from generally caring about a person and you can tell. Who knows maybe he actually befriended someone and it turned out they were just screwing with him.

Society the way it is now places immense value on your ability to be flamboyant and out there with an "in your face" attitude. Those are the go getters and the cool kids. If your a loner, or shy you are ostracized. Something like that starting in middle school can have a huge HUGE effect on a persons psyche.

The fact that I'm typing whatever I want right this second and hitting post and letting everybody see it is the expression of naked form freedom of speech. The fact that Syn has said what he said and can continue to post and his post are not yet deleted is the expression of naked form freedom of speech. The fact that as upset as you are, you can not stop me from making this post is the naked form of freedom of speech. I may not think Genosync deserves it, but it exists regardless of what your sorry little ass claims.

You, sir, are a brainless, senseless, clueless retard whose only sad little satisfaction comes from getting off on your hallucination of you "owning" someone else by saying "fuck" as many times as you do.

And as compassionate as you claim yourself to be, your preference of this board to be without the essence of "America" says all that it needs to about how much of a phony you really are.
