Because I love American values. And even though I disagree with people trying to force it onto other countries, I still think it represents the best of humanity on the face of the earth.Originally Posted by divisortheory

The problem with your post is that the internet is not an American entity and the owner of this webspace can, in fact, set whatever rules of speech they wish. Your first amendment rights absolutely do not apply to a web forum. Sure, you can type what you want and hit submit, but if a moderator decides they don't like what you say, they have the power to punish you by either removing your forum access or deleting your post. You can cry about censorship, the essence of America and the first amendment all you want but the truth is it doesn't matter. In my personal opinion, your insults towards Norelco don't make you any better than him. In fact, they may make you worse for sinking to that level.Originally Posted by GRT
If you people ever want anyone who actually matters in the real world to take you seriously, you're going to have to drop the petty, childish insults and learn to discuss things in the proper forum at the proper time with the proper attitude. Coming into a thread that was created with the purpose of keeping the denizens of this board informed of FACTUAL information and first hand accounts of the events in Virginia spewing mindless commentary on subjects that have already been declared inappropriate for this thread is an act of complete disrespect for the people affected and the people who maintain this webspace. There have been threads created for us to discuss the other topics; move to those to push your agendas and argue your beliefs.
the school just sent an e-mail not too long ago , asking me to apply for that school
This thread is now about capitalism.
Discuss.
I'm not crying about censorship and the essense of America. Why should I? I'm still posting here.Originally Posted by Creeps

The reason I'm under fire is because I'm seen as uncompassionate for not being completely and utterly supportive of the VT victims as everyone on the face of the earth seems to have an obligation doing. So bandwagons as usual jump and shout, as if their words could really affect me like mine affect them.

Ahkow, Don't let the media skew your views of our school. Virginia Tech is an amazing place to be and I consider the Virginia Tech community to be stronger than ever now after these incidents.
Don't let the television media and they're negative portrayal of "lack of safety and protection" sway your opinion about our school
The officers and the people present did everything within they're power at the time and acted as responsibly as possible. I can not stand all the fruitflies on campus critisizing how people responded.
Hindsight is 20/20 and the officers followed protocol and responded as well as they could.
Don't let this event turn you off from our school; I wouldn't want to be anywhere else

Yes, you can say whatever the hell you want here and hit enter with nothing getting in your way. Doesn't mean you should. Regardless of what freedoms you have maybe you should step back and THINK about someone other than yourself before you post the dribble you do.
It really irks me that some people can be so inconsiderate. Hell.. I feel bad argueing in this thread because this shouldn't be what this thread is about... but some people just don't seem to get it.
I'd hate to use something so cliche and old but: If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. Seriously...
At the very least this experience has taught us that GRT is an ignorant dick.
i was never really good at getting my ideas down (on paper or any media >_>) elmer
if you guys want to respond to eachother, do so as adults, and stop the pointless bickering--everyone thinks they're right, and the louder you yell, the less they listen. do you best to make your posts uh... fruitful? (not to crush anyone's self-expression, but a lot of these posts about what someone "should" feel really go in the wrong direction.... and that seems to provoke the people using this thread as a way to mourn with eachother. idk.)
(To whoever said gtfo if you're not mourning or w/e, make a mourning thread [go geno], and leave this thread as a general thread with all sorts of miscellaneous (sp?) information in it)
(make a fight thread if you want to, but include those trippy mario pics so everyone leaves feeling good)
so yeah... 'fruitful' posts![]()
huh, genosync didn't bitch back at me(or at least i don't think he did). i asked him to calm down for his own good, and if this thread or this forum was upsetting him that much, he really shouldn't come here at all, so he can find a peace of mind, which i think would be something someone like him really need--as opposed to a meaningless verbal fight here that don't solve shitOriginally Posted by Xiani

So I'm just trying to explain stuff the best way I can. I hope you and your VT friends are enjoying your time off as best you can after such an event.Originally Posted by Genosync

Also, I did mention at the end of my post that his mental issues made his situation unique and possibly inevitable, despite what anyone may have tried to do to help him.
You know whats really messed up about this tragedy (besides the killings) is how the media got the parents and family involved like they were accomplices to the tragedy. Even the sister of the gunman had her own article of herself on the yahoo news. Just kinda sad that now his family will be ruined from this even though they had no direct impact on the tragedy.
