No, im merely offering another look at it, my personal subjective experience, which you attack. Really, stfu.

There are other threads created for specific purposes about things related to this incedent, and people provided their subjective experience about the incedent itself. The arguments in this thread are started when people (like you) arent reading posts for the reflective information they contain, and throw insults and "gtfo"s (hah, GTFO's, new breakfast cereal) at what people have to say.

How many posts have you made about the incedent that dont attack other people for their views? I hope you were able to find someone to talk to find some comfort and comfort others yesterday. I know what kind of things can go through someones mind when brutal violence forces itself into your life. One thing I do want to say though is, don't let this change your life. Don't let it become a defining moment. That's something you should create, something wonderful.

Your statement makes it sound like he couldn't help being what he was due to society... when in reality, his brain was fucked. It didn't function properly... society had nothing to do with this, otherwise there'd be a lot more social misfits driven to monstrous acts like this.

Also, I did mention at the end of my post that his mental issues made his situation unique and possibly inevitable, despite what anyone may have tried to do to help him.

I did notice that part of your post as well... which is why I wanted to point out the contradiction. I believe the portion of your post referencing his mental issues to be most accurate.

If you want to examine the cause of the incident, I'm sure there's a myraid of factors. But the fact that this individual was isolated from society, blah, blah was not the fault of society. He had a brain that functioned illogically when compared to that of a "normal" person. (I put normal in quotations intentionally)

Read up a bit on psychosocial and psychotic disorders and I think you'll find that your latter comments hold a bit more weight than those about society.

In the spirit of Norelco's recent posts though... I'd like to again express my sorrow to everyone affected by this incident. I can barely read stories and accounts of the victims while I am work because it chokes me up.

I don't live in Blacksburg anymore, but I lived there longer than I've lived anywhere and it's totally heartbreaking to think of something like this happening in that community.

Most of us alumni won't be back there until the fall when football season starts... I wonder what that will be like...

What's more shocking, to hear a plane crashed on a runway, or that it crashed into the World Trade Center?

Either way it sucks, but I think the point there was more that this is not a place with a high crime rate. It's extremely rare to have any kind of murder or shooting take place. In NY, even as you say, it's not.

It's not that it's less tragic when it happens, but you could perhaps say it's less shocking. It's not as surprising to hear that someone got shot in an ally in the ghetto as it is to hear someone walked into a classroom and started shooting.
