While most people will agree, there is always a group who are ready to blame something modern for all of the ills of society.
In the late 50's and early 60's, rock and roll music, specifically Elvis, caused teens to do wild thing like chewing gum in class and sometimes smoke. You see, back then was a much simpler, innocent time. Teenage pregnancy hadn't even been invented yet. Nothing funny whatsoever was going on when a girl started to gain a little weight around the midsection, went to visit an aunt for several months, then magically came back thin. Or shotgun weddings, and 4-5 months later the woman "prematurely" gave birth to a full-term baby. Nope, it was all a happy Norman Rockwell painting, and the world was full of sock-hops, hootenannies, and malted shakes at the corner malt shop. Segregation didn't exist, because people pretended that it didn't. And pay no mind to those bachelor uncles and spinster aunts- they just didn't find the right person to marry and raise 2.5 children in the loving embrace of suburbia. (Hey, let's introduce that bachelor uncle and spinster aunt, they'd get along smashingly!) Yup, everything was swell and dandy. Oh, except for the looming threat of thermonuclear annihilation from the commies.
But anyway, people love to find scape goats- rock and roll, movies, comic books, cartoons, heavy metal, rap, video games, etc. Did you know that before Elvis recorded Heartbreak Hotel in 1956, there was absolutely no violence, murders, or wars ever? For every generation, there are many vocal people do not want to admit that within humans beats a dark heart capable of horrors, so they try their best to shift the blame to anything else instead of where it belongs, the people who commit the crimes.
