Maxed Feral Howl is pretty cool though, works 90% of the time even against ITs and it actually saved my ass quite a few times while duo/trio'ing stuff and in exp, especially against Skoffins.

Probably I tend to evaluate it more as War/Nin because while tanking, the difference between connecting Utsu and being hit might translate in a shitload of damage taken since I don't evade much or parry either for that matter, when shadows are down, so even 2 seconds of terror during Ichi casting can save lives and tons of MPs.

I exp'd my Ninja in static with a DDBST since Lv50 and she has always done respectable damage, outdamaging a lot of regular melee at times (also due to the excellent gear) and I really don't mind merit'ing with this person since she's an extremely dedicated BST and intelligent player, you could recognize she has fun playing it, undertsand and accepts the limits of the class unlike many other deluded BSTs (if you want to play a powerhouse go level WAR or MNK, otherwise try to get the best out of the class you're fond of and attempt to have fun doing it), put some efforts into capping melee-oriented merits and Feral Howl wins the award for the best looking JA in the game, blocking a Wyvern mid-flight for 30 seconds is priceless lol, aside from making Juriks or any other potentially dangerous mob harmless long enough to obliterate em, helping to keep the chain going.

Here's a parse from a few days ago, we were merit'ing at Jade Sepulcher for the record: leaving aside my Warrior since it's on a completely different level gear wise (keep also in consideration that the food/songs choice was favoring greatly my 278 skill Ridill/Joy DEX-heavy build) and I never stop engaging, jumping from mob to mob very quickly, the other 2 melee had comparable merit/gear set-up and in the end the BST's performances weren't so far away, also counting that she went afk for a little bit at some point.

I can't imagine what kind of numbers this person could put out with Temperance Axe (or even relic Axe)/Ebody/BHaidate and meat food + Madrigal.

Honestly I think that a big chunk of Wafik's emoness comes from that fact he has a Mandau THF available for DD'ing purpose and the comparison would definately be merciless on pretty much anything (and especially if you like merit'ing on piercing damage-friendly mobs I guess), rather than from the flaws of the class itself that isn't the most powerful melee in the game (but then again, neither is Thief) but it's still useful and surely not the gimpest either, I'd level the job myself if I had enough free time, simply because the AF helmets and running around followed by a Tiger look friggin cool. :P

its a shame gauge wasnt more like scan in other FF's...... it could tell you hp/mp/tp/def/attack/weaknesses/strengths.. as an added effect to make it actually useful, it could amplify the enemy's elemental weakness as well as lower some stats(possibly evasion and defence) for a short time

also i never realized they actually used the same models for khimaira / bison bonnets... i mean seriously what were they thinking when they made that... mind boggling...

Sitting here with my temperance axe, 8 axe merits, HQ snipers, HQ hauberk and HQ dusk, AF2 gloves, call beast merits... and people will take that sushi eating WAR sporting full AF and a trial axe over me.

Any BST that claims they can beat an equally geared/merited WAR is full of it. Any BST claiming they can compete with a properly geared Ridill WAR is just delusional. Only Alla BSTs and some KI BSTs really think the job is a powerhouse. I've probably done near everything you can on BST and with all BST groups before I quit the first time.

Even in a solo environment, my BLM outsoloes my BST by a longshot, both in terms of XP/hr and in terms of safety. Hell my BRD/BST outsoloes my BST/WHM. Before I get further derailed. All I'm saying is BST can be a pretty decent DD job for Merits, Dynamis, Limbus and many things.

The comparison to DD PLD is pretty accurate.

Even with Guttler, I was no contest for a Ridill WAR, could out DPS basically any other WAR though, but not by much. I'm talking about a 2% difference in TTL dmg ;/
