How good are those expensive level 75 hq jugs? I looked them up on wiki and ffxiah a long time ago, and they look ridiculously expensive to buy/craft (as in spending a few hundred k for maybe 2hrs worth of jug pet). Thou I've never seen anyone actually use them, so I'm just curious how the antillion/eft/cactuar/etc stack up to CC and the funguar, damage wise.

They're better, but given the expense...hard to justify. They also don't last as long as Carrie.


Oh, and yeah, I agree with the general DD PLD thing. On the rare times I actually get a BST invite, I do tend to parse pretty well...and have beat out WAR/NINs and MNK/WARs, though not decked out/fully merited ones. More to say that unless you're making an uber-elite merit party, no reason to pass over the BSTs >_>

Job really could use a good deal of attention though.

Cactuar doesn't really impress. The only real draw is 1000 needles (needleshotlol). Lars is pretty good, better than carrie and funguar. I used up about 10 of them killing Jailer of Faith with 4. It did pretty respectable damage and has pretty decent accuracy. I can't tell a difference between HQ beetle and carrie to be honest, but I havn't used one in a long while. Never got to use HQ eft yet or the HQ antlion.

Basically they are all overpriced or insanely annoying to farm. I had Aurik cook me up some Lars, took hours upon hours to get the necessary drops (I resorted to buying some as well), scattered across the world where no one hunts. All so you can NQ the large majority of them unless you are a 101+3 chef in which case you can HQ about 1/4 of them. Did I mention some of the ingredients are unstackable or expensive? Cause they are. Oh the NQ are near worthless unless you like hanging out in capped zones.

The feet are ok with 5acc 5atk and some limited mp hp and -enmity. It's like an Amir-1. Better than Adaman I guess.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. I've been drooling over a pair in someone's bazaar for the last couple of weeks but can't afford them. ; ;

And the newer jugs are a pain - either the ingredients are annoying to farm up (blood broth) or the cap on the synth is annoyingly high since you're looking for HQs (antica broth).

I've said it before, I'll say it again.

If SE releases a courrier carri-esque jug (same level, comparable price, comparable ease of obtaining ingredients required) that calls a fucking Dhalmel I will SHIT BRICKS. Healing breeze, high HP, high attack rate. Oh man. The days soloing and duoing in altepa, running around with my cows in tow was the best. Those are such awesome pets.

Not only is the Khimaira set like that, but so is the Hydra set. It's pretty funny, because I think SE saw that "we wanted them to go upgrade older armor sets that sucked" and so they made new armor sets with small bonuses on top.

About Hydra/Khimaira JSE drops...I have no idea how a developer who knows/cares about the game can implement gear like that.

Which is why they should have just upgraded the Gavial set, which is pretty cheap to make and a good piece for a level 70~ DRG or SAM to start with.

It would be nice to have some amorph jugs (hecteyes, jellies, leeches), and bird/flying (bats, birds, andzomg colibri w/reflect... but could be gamebraking haha) and it would be neat, if there could be wyvern jugs, I still don't understand how demons in dynamis can have wyvern pets yet we can't, when all the other pets they have we can also charm =/ "charizard I choose you!"

Good luck convincing someone outside of your LS or static to invite a BST. I can sit in whitegate for days lfg and not get a single invite. Sitting here with my temperance axe, 8 axe merits, HQ snipers, HQ hauberk and HQ dusk, AF2 gloves, call beast merits... and people will take that sushi eating WAR sporting full AF and a trial axe over me.

I fully intend not to touch the job again after I get 75, and am only leveling it to 75for RDM/BST @ Ouryu and so I can sell my Hauby +1.
