So I went out on mnk/thf to west sarutabaruta and smacked some mandies around for a bit. Gear:

Destroyers
Walahra Turban
Faith Torque
Moldavite Earring
Novio Earring
Shura Togi
Ochiudo's kote
Some acc rings
Amemet +1
black belt
Byakko's haidate
Herald's gaiters (those mandies run around a lot >( )

With the earrings:

Max: 122
Min: 107

Without the earrings:

Max: 122
Min: 109

These are out of 30 sneak attacks each with formless strikes on, 2 merits on formless strikes. IE, the unlocking merit + one up grade.

Other stuff: max h2h merits, I guess.

So unless someone knows of some other factor I'm ignorant to, I'm gonna call it conclusive. What do you think, BG?

Hand-to-hand skill and Formless Strikes level are the only things you, as a monk, can do to improve Formless Strikes damage. I tested this was way back when CatII merits were first released, but I don't think anything has changed.

It's the only reason I keep FS merited, flans go down so fast in salvage with it and really speeds up that area.

Since Chi Blast is modified by mind, and formless strikes is the same type of damage, could it be possible that mind effects it? I didn't merit it so I can't really test myself. :<

On topic though, since supposedly it's the same kind of damage as Chi Blast, MND testing definitely sounds sensible... perhaps INT, but being MNK and all I'd put my money on MND if it were either of them.

Formeless Strikes is useful occasionally for sure...
Kind of interesting its magic damage not affected by MAB..

Im guessing Chi isn't affected by MAB obviously..so what Lins says makes sense MND up for it go?
