I started listening to Manson when Portrait of an American Family was released. That's the Manson i grew to love. If you like Golden Age that's fine, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's definitely not the same person (on the inside) singing the songs, and that's why I didn't like it.

Definately man. I saw manson live for the first time in 93 and reznor in 94, and have been extremely disappointed with almost everything from either of them for the last 10 years or so.

Crazy thinking about the fact that acs was 12 years ago and a lot of us had been listening to him for years before that heh.

Those shows were crazy. Manson on stilts, throwing bibles into the crowd, kids tearing out the pages and eating them. Kids throwing rubber chickens on stage.

NIN, Manson, Muse and Daft Punk are pretty much the best live acts you can catch anymore. They all sound great and have incredible showmanship. Most anything else worth seeing live is either one or the other: sounds good or looks good.

I been listening to manson since portrait came out. Finally got to see him live during the holy wood tour, and it was awesome.

my favorite part of the concert was, this 14 year old kid who sat beside us apparently conned his dad into taking him to see manson (the dad was prolly 40ish) good ol' dad was wigged out at first, crazy people dressed like umpa lumpas, and typical goth attire, and of course lots of girls (and a few guys) wearing corsettes and other such revealing clothes. (one chick was wearing white bra, a thong, high heels and a wedding veil. the cops kept chasing her around the crowd trying to get her to put clothes on but in the end they just flirted with her)

good ol' dad was really buggin out that he had agreed to take his young son to such a lewd concert.

there was some no name band, and union underground (we got to go on their tour bus before the show) and dad's still buggin. manson gets on stage and dad is literally waiting to cover his son's eyes if anything inappropriate happens. so 3-4 songs go by, and i look over to see good ol' dad thrashing around and enjoying himself like everyone else LOL! he was even shaking his fist and screaming "fight" during the fight song xD i think it embarassed the kid though cuz he just sat there

guess the only thing that sucked was it was sit down only. no pit, no standing ; ; but i guess i can see why, apparently 2 nights before manson was in charlotte (we were in greensboro) and had locked the doors and kept the concert going well beyond the local curfew. i think someone had gotten trampled during the chaos that ensued after the doors were locked. so they moved manson from the colliseum to the theater where it was nothing but chairs and no room to stand up or mosh. also there was no smoking (of any sort) or even drinking (they tried to kick me out for having a bottle of water...) they also made me remove my lebret spike because it can be used as a weapon??? (please tell me how? gonna ckicken peck someone to death?)

as for the new song, sounds good but nothing ground breaking. very promising for the album as a whole though

I think it's all great. Much like Bowie or Nine Inch Nails, a large part of why I like Manson is that he's never the same from album to album. Golden Age happens to be most in line with my personal aesthetics, so it's my favorite. Also, much as I loved Twiggy, Tim Skold kicks ass as well (and I'm predisposed to like him from his KMFDM days).

That second track is pretty interesting. It's oddly uplifting and dark at the same time.

I'm starting to like this second track more and more now.

BTW, I'm pretty sure the lyrics differ from what you described slightly.

She reminds me of the one in school,
when I was gutted she was dressed in white.

    sounds more like

She reminds me of the one in school,
when I was cutting she was dressed in white.

I'm not really sure what the hell it would even mean if it said "when i was gutted", lol.
