Lexus IS 350 vs ES 350

Unless you live in Detroit, or some place with horrible roads, get the IS. The suspension is much tighter than the ES (which is more of a mushy freeway cruiser) so really rough or uneven roads could be a little jarring; not what you want for your $1100/mo lease payments.

I wonder what drew you to the Lexus 350 series in the first place? They're nice cars and all but if you want something sporty but still be a sedan why not a WRX or even an EVO VIII? Hell, the Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT is a fucking amazing car and you don't get the riceboy look (not that the EVO or WRX do but it's much more refined for city driving than those cars).

What's the lease term you're looking for? 24, 36, 48 mo? Subaru (in Canada at least) is offering some really damn good lease and finance rates right now, as low as 1.9% of some of their cars. Not to mention the smaller engines will be better on gas but you're still getting nice and powerful engine.

That's the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT .specB - the top-of the line model. Basically it's the WRX drivetrain in a much nicer and more refined body style. The .specB can easily go head-to-head with the IS350 in terms of performance AND it's about $5000 CDN less than the IS.

The interior more than anything, besides the fact that the IS is a very fast car.

Also my dad, uncle, and aunt's recent cars have all been from the same lexus dealership, so we pretty much get the red carpet treatment over there and the price is very very attractive (I believe they want 2.5k down with about $550 lease payments per month after tax), at least more attractive than what Infiniti was going to offer for their G35 (3k down with 590~ i believe? sure it's not a big difference, but the Lexus guys pretty much dropped it down to 39k instead of the 42k or so that the package I was looking at cost.)

For those of you who have the IS 350, is the difference that large between the 250 and 350? Because the guys at the dealership said that the difference is very noticeable... but he's the salesperson and we all know what his motives are.

Just wondering... but yeah, pretty settled on the IS.

I took the 250 for a test drive, they don't really have many 350s so you have to order them ahead of time... I should call and see if they can do something about it though, I really want to compare.

To be honest? I don't like the IS-F's look... it might be the dumb blue color they have up at their website, but the front just doesn't do it for me.

In all seriousness though, tC are way too small for anyone above 6'0" or so. My friend has one and he let me drive it once and it was a pain in the ass, but it's fine to be the passenger. Nice cars regardless.

I really could care less about the interior, as long as it isn't leather. Leather is so horrible in this city, ~110 degrees all summer and getting into a car with leather....is bad. x.x

My cousin has an IS350, and personally i think it's one of the most comfortable cars that i've driven. I don't know if anyone asnwered this yet, but the only difference between the 250 and 350 is the engine i think.

In all seriousness, IS350 is the better-looking of the pair, but I couldn't picture myself in it. I don't like how freakin' BIG it looks in those pictures, nor do I like the way any other Lexus looks on the road. Just for another slightly related example, the new Toyota Camry design looks just as bulky (guess the Toyota designers decided to take a cue from their Lexus division). Not necessarily a bad thing since a big car is good for someone who's over 6 feet tall, but it doesn't do anything for me.

My car buying priorities are a little different from yours since I'm the only one ever in mine, haha. No life ftw.

I was initially looking at Mazda 6, I like the way those look. Can you tell me what's going wrong with yours?

The fan works overtime because I guess the car gets overheated very quickly, which causes the fan to make an extremely annoying noise, even if i'm parked with the car turned on, which is really fucking embarassing and annoying sometimes.

The brakes were relatively fine for the first couple of years (I LOVED the car for the first couple of years) but now it just starts fucking around too much and makes weird noises every time I press on the paddle, annoying squeaking noises. I keep fixing it but it comes back again and again.

I was told that to replace the fan noise and take it out completely I would have to replace the battery and some other stuff in the car, and it would cost me approximately 1000 dollars... and for a car i'm giving back in 2-3 months, I don't give a shit. As long as it can keep running fine I really don't care if it makes any extra noises, especially for a car I'm supposed to be giving back soon.

As far as the payments go, my parents are gonna back me up and I currently pay my mazda (380~ + 400~ insurance), and I do work and go to school at the same time so it's not easy but I manage. (and working for the family business = instant win heh, but I won't get into that again in a topic.)

All in all, the IS is gorgeous, and it's freakin' fast (and if the 350 is faster than the 250 I test drove, then all the better heh.)

Now to wait until July so I could get rid of this piece of junk Mazda 6 (If you get it, don't expect it to work well after 2 years heh... hell, I was in the hospital/recooperating from back surgery for about 4~ months, so the car didn't even get on the road at all during this time, and I so I only have 25k mileage on it in 2 1/2 years, which is NOTHING and is the reason why i'm pissed off that it's running so poorly.)
