Merits question

185 Merits right now - 181 used, 4 in the bank.

5 merits from capping Dragoon JSM and about 15 merits from capping BLM JSM. Still not sure what combination to use for AM2 merits.

Still need to cap HP/MP and the Other Category.

Formed a merit static 2 weeks ago where we intend to meet twice a week, Mon & Thursday. Had 3 sessions so far 14 merits in total through around 7-8 hours partying total. Gotta love Rdm + 2 x brd.

Hopefully I can get Thief to 75 relatively soon so I can start dumping merits into that too!

Since I made the post I figure I'll toss my view here.

I have capped blm stuff and then I just do whatever I can for the rest. 138 merits on blm stuff. Smn merits are very lol and even smn skill is shitty so 30 there on the group 1s. Blu doesn't have alot and aside from physical and sword, there is nothing really else, so I have 36 there. And drk is very lol and my 'newest' job so I just have dark seal. Plus the 10 merits to crit that every person should have.

217 total.

I only have ~59 merits, capped the combat skills, capped crits and nearly done with thief specific.

If i can, I'd also like a question here too.
I have THF 75 and NIN 75. I've got 6 dagger, 6 katana for combat, putting me at the cap. Now, I'd also like to level WAR to 75, but I'm very sceptical about doing it seeing i wouldn't be able to put any merits into axe ( and sword if i ever get a ridill <.<). What are your opinions on this? I love both THF and NIN, and am quite reluctant to take any of the combat merits from them.

I'm not a merit whore, but I guess i'm a merit noob. I thought merits =/= merit points. All this time thinking, say, 9 merits points to cap last point of STR was only 1 "merit". I guess i never did the math.

really, even when i'm getting 17k/hr meriting, i get bored in an hr :D

I like merits, but I hate XPing. c.c I get most of my merits through Besieged, helping LS people get keys, etc. Thus I don't have many. (But I don't do much on game besides Besieged and helping LS friends, so I guess it all works out?)

Crit hit+ needs one more to be capped, but I got sidetracked by capping HP. (Got a couple in MP for BRD, so that I could raise/reraise when naked.)

Was a BLM main once, shifted to RDM when we lost a few RDMs to WoW. MNK is more of a toy, but its geared very well so it has to have its merits so I dont look gimpy with black belt and faith torque etc and no merits.



Dont merit as much as I used to. theres less important stuff to get and most of my linkshell binged on them and capped. Plus pick up merit ptys tend to be decidely emo.

I counted yesterday, totaling eighty four merits. My first merits were in critical hit, then I started to allocate them into things that would aid me whilst meriting so that future merits would be easier.

About 180 merits distributred among 7 (8 technically, but I won't waste merits on BRD) jobs, not evently though. I usually only put merits into the jobs I actually use or like (SAM, THF, BLM and now PLD/RDM).

I really don't like meriting, mostly because unless it's a LS party it'll only give me a headache instead of merits. I try to get the "required" merits (e.g. Para/Slow/Phalanx II for RDM) out of the way fast.

That being said, whoever thought it was a good idea to limit combat skills to 12 needs to be shot~

450ish merits.
Ton of deleted merits from quitting certain jobs and changing combat skills, messing with enmity, etc.

Combat merits geared towards warrior then deleted for THF.
Magic merits geared towards WHM then deleted for bard, changing them again for 4 wind skill and 4 elemental skill.
HP/MP: all HP(Taru)
Other: PC crit up, NPC crit down. Had 4into enmity at one point. Changed to 4 into enmity reduction. Changed again into NPC crit down.

I used to try to keep all merits geared to benefit one job, but with 8 Lv 75 jobs now I find it more worth it to have them benefit several jobs.
