Merits question

I have around 290-300 merits atm, most of it are for samurai.

Wasted about 40-60 merits JAs and sub-combat skill (Lvl/Dlvl stuff)

Here's the merits I can remember on top of my head:

I started off with all of the general and later the job specific merits, and never really touched combat skills for the longest time. I'd do 2-3 upgrades of certain weapons and then that's it; never wanted to cap a combat skill and then regret it later so I left it untouched until I recieved a relic. That and I was never really using a specific weapon more than any other for everything. However after the relic, I capped it in GK.

I'm at about 330 total including canceled ones, and have maybe 30 or so merits worth of upgrades before I'm basically done. I wouldn't be capped but I really don't feel a need to set out to merit Sange/San/Ninjutsu Expertize/etc, just to say I'm capped.

Otherwise though I'm capped in all of the general merits. SAM specific merits are capped. DRK specific merits are capped. WAR specific is almost capped, minus two upgrades of category two that are basically worthless to me. RNG specific is almost capped, feel no need to merit Unlimited Shot unless I get a Heavy Shell (rarely ever use my CP bolt/arrow now). NIN specific is half-way capped, because category 1 and 2 options are pretty lame. MNK is almost capped, and will be once I make time for more merits.

I've been in money making mode the last few weeks though, so I haven't been meritting as much as normal. I'd probably stop at 350 or so, and anything extra will just be saved in hope of them eventually adding more merits or expanding the merit categories.

I fall asleep in merit parties after 1 hour. Combine that with the fact that I merit like once a month, and you get... roughly 120 merits spread across my jobs. I am capping BRD first, since it's the job I use the most. Then I'll do WHM since it's the job I use 2nd most. SMN merits are lol, and my DRKs gear is too gimp for merits to make a difference (plus I rarely get to use DRK for anything anyway)

I have a bit over 300 merits, about 100 of them from back in the day when KRT were sick merits :D Everything capped except sam cat2s, only 2 merits away from finishing that. Then starting on PLD once it hits 75 (if ever)

As much as I've come to hate meriting now and just generally getting bored with the same grind, I do hope that some day they open it up so that you can toggle merits. I would like, for instance, to be able to get 8 enfeebling merits to use when I'm on red mage, and 8 elemental if I ever decide to level black mage. I'm surprised they haven't done it yet to be honest, because more merits mean more people playing longer, but I guess the majority of people in FFXI aren't nearly as close to capping out as some of the people on these boards or in endgame in general.

Only 239 merits.. still looking for about 105 more for things that would be useful. Even after those, I wouldn't be nearly at the cap for 7 jobs. Most of mine are focused on WAR, BLM, and MNK, /sigh meriting to merit better I guess lol. My PLD and RDM still lacking from where I want them to be. NIN+BRD merits untouched since I never play them.

A shitload, I have no idea how many. Every single category that can possibly be capped, both job-specific and non-job specific are capped for my main character who's a Galka NIN. On my Taru BLM character I have two or three lightning potency upgrades also.

Maat's cap O, 216 merits (I keep this in bazaar comment, though it's one of several numbers so people don't know what it means).

I don't consider any of my jobs to be 'capped' in merits just because I haven't finished stats yet (only str lv2, thinking of doing str2 dex2 int1 or something to that effect). If you skip that, then I suppose I'm close to cap on blm mnk and war. I chose to even stuff out (combat is 3 h2h, 3 axe, 2 sword, 4 eva), which obviously comes at the cost of being a little more gimp, but I like war and mnk a lot and couldn't drop one for the other.
